🍌 - What drew you into the fandom in the first place?

If we’re discussing Final Fantasy, I got pulled into it as a kid, specifically when Kingdom Hearts came out. I didn’t even know what Final Fantasy was at the time, because I had Nintendo products and primarily played Pokemon and Zelda. But I was intrigued after seeing Tidus and Wakka and everyone, and Final Fantasy X was the first game I picked up. I then backtracked to every title I could find. I remember getting Final Fantasy X-2 upon release because the commercials really had me going. Same with KH2. So Final Fantasy X will always have a soft place in my heart, as well as most of the PS1/PS2 titles. I was even part of discussion and roleplay forums for it as kid, and got into serious conversations and communities on other social media websites.
I got into the Tumblr RP community because a friend thought I’d make a good Yuffie. For a while, I was like the only long-term Yuffie. But being in canon came with plenty drama, and because of all the nonsense attributed to it, it didn’t spark joy in me anymore. Also, being in fandom discourse only increasingly stressed me out. So I moved out the limelight & fandom discourse, and now I’m much happier than I was around this time last year, for a variety of reasons.
As for Devil May Cry… I don’t remember? I think I saw the boxart for Devil May Cry 3 in middle school and thought it looked pretty dope. It didn’t take long for me to attach to it, and I ended up buying the Special Edition, along with the 1-3 boxset. I also got into the Divine Comedy and the Aeneid bc of the Dante and Vergil parallels ( what can I say, I appreciated the source content ok ). So I’ve been hooked since… probably 7th or 8th grade, and Capcom’s been stealing my money ever since. I’ve never gotten into serious discourse about it though for fandom, I’ve just read fanfic for the most part, and I joined a few Discord servers when DMC5 was released. I’m still part of them, but pretty silent. I don’t really like fandom debates and whatnot. I just enjoy…. the content and seeing others also enjoy the characters and plot and etc.
My tagline when it comes to fandom is I’m here for a good time, not a long time. Even if I’ve been exposed and attached to a franchise for a while… I don’t really stick around long to talk about it. I hate seeing drama & tempers flare extremely quickly, especially in DMC fandom, about what’s appropriate ad what’s not.
