Pixel doesn’t have to win, they’ll take great joy from seeing Ace lose though

The funny part is Pixel thinks Ace is upset for an entirely different reason than he actually is

Ace: *Actually upset because two people he holds dearest are in a more “important” relationship so now where the hell does that leave him in this dynamic*

Why'd they let Deuce be their study buddy?

It was just the two of them in the library near a window. They were supposed to be studying but Vee couldn’t focus. This wasn’t a usual episode of them not being able to focus, they kept their attention on the boy right beside them. 

‘It’s rude to stare Vee! Pay attention, you need to know this stuff!’

Vee kept reminding themselves but barely even tried to process a word he was saying. Were they feeling butterflies? That’s how people described it right? When they felt all fluttery around a person?

That might be happening now. 

Deuce was nice. Maybe it’s just because Vee still isn’t used to someone being so patient with them but it meant the world to them. 

Despite him being a ‘delinquent’ in the past, Vee couldn’t think of him less. All that did was make them admire him more somehow.  Deuce wasn’t perfect, in a strange way Vee felt as if that put them on similar levels. They would be more intimidated by him being a ‘perfect’ honor student if anything. 

And Vee couldn’t lie, Deuce was like, really pretty. No room for exaggerating on Vee’s part. The two of them were side by side leaving Vee with a perfect view of him. This light from the window really helped emphasize his “prettiness” more. 

They rested their head against their hand, at least making an attempt to look like they were paying attention. 

“Okay, so did that make sense, Vee?”

Vee barely gathered what he asked.

“You’re so pretty.”

Deuce dropped his pencil, “Eh, excuse me?”

They wanted to zip their mouth shut. They just said that out loud!?

On Deuce’s side, Vee managed to be as stone faced as ever despite their internal panic. Did he really mishear what they said? They called him pretty right? That couldn’t be, “I’m sorry I thought you said something there.”

‘…’

“I said you were pretty.”, Vee repeated, this time with more confidence. Their leg bounced under the table from nervousness, however. 

“Ah! I see…” A tint of pink began to creep on Deuce’s face and all he could do was stare back down at the textbook.

“Was that okay?” Now they were feeling even less confident. Boys weren’t usually called pretty and even when they were, those boys were far different from Deuce. Still, handsome wouldn’t cut it for Vee. 

Deuce Spade was pretty. 

“Yeah! I mean, yes it was okay, no worries.” Deuce calmed himself, “That kind of came out of nowhere so…”

“Sorry.”

“Hey hey, no need to apologize. Compliments like those aren’t something I’m used to.”

Vee didn’t understand that, he must’ve been different looking in the past. 

Still, they kept their eyes on Deuce.

Obliviously they leaned forward, looking a bit too close. It’s as if they were analyzing Deuce’s face for details. He has faint little cuts Vee noticed but….

In what universe would Deuce not be considered pretty?

Deuce’s face became redder as Vee looked directly at him. Their usual dull eyes had a bit of sparkle to them.

“H-hey, you’re kind of close…”

Vee came back to their senses and backed away while muttering another ‘sorry’.

“You’re fine Vee. I didn’t think I was THAT pretty.” He nervously laughed.

Meanwhile, Vee had their head in hands from flat out embarrassment. They just called their classmate pretty and stared at him like a creep. Said classmate who they see every day. And he’s fine with it!?

“Um…” Deuce bumped Vee’s shoulder, “I think you’re pretty too…”

....

“Well, cute sounds more right I think. UM Not saying you AREN'T pretty of course! You are! Just, the point is, you’re nice to look at.”

….

“Hello….”, Deuce waved a hand in front of the unresponsive Vee, fearing he made them uncomfortable.

It’s a surprise they managed to be so composed in front of him when internally they were freaking out.

“Thank you…”, Vee looked down as their face appeared to be slightly red. A rare sight to see from them. 

Deuce’s heart immediately skipped a beat.

Crap they got cuter!

“Um, no problem. We should….get back to studying.” He flipped a page in the book as Vee nodded. 

Neither of them memorized a thing after their so-called study session.
