Metalocalypse

Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha for Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block, Metalocalypse is an animated satire centered on a death metal band called Dethklok.  This band is ultra-successful, accruing a level of popularity and influence unheard of in reality.  The band is so successful that they essentially compose the seventh-largest economy on Earth.  Their unfettered power results in calamity and hi jinx.   

Despite their unparalleled success, the various members of Dethlok (frontman Nathan Explosion, lead guitarist Skwisgaar Skwigelf, drummer Pickles, bassist William Murderface and rhythm guitar Toki Wartooth) are each complete nitwits, possessing little to no common sense about daily life.  They are unable to even fix their own meals, handle finances, or even maintain relationships.  Their power coupled with their ineptitude results in all manner of disaster and anything remotely associated with the band likewise attracts chaos.

Dethlok unnatural popularity and trail of destruction has attracted the attention of an Illuminati-style group, known as The Tribunal, dedicated to monitoring Dethklok's activity and plans. Typically, episodes involve the Tribunal attempting to maintain and perpetuate public ignorance and rampant consumerism whenever Dethklok's antics inadvertently threaten to upset the status quo. The Tribunal, led by the mysterious Mr. Salacia, works off the premise that Dethklok's unusual powers are the result of an ancient Sumerian prophecy about an ‘Apocalypse of Metal.’

[Dario Polo was looking crabby as he pushing a stroller in the park with his eight month old granddaughter, Xalvadora, who was happily giggling.]

Dario Polo (grumbling): I don't know how Paulina talked me into this, does she really expect to consider this.. this..-

[He looked down at the nuclear zombie baby who was now chewing on one of her mother's green rods given to her. Even after it's been more than half a year since her birth, he still couldn't believe his daughter had a child with a villain and she ended up inheriting the father's condition. It's like a nightmare for him come true and he just had to live with it.]

Dario Polo (sighed): Okay, since you are being really good for me. Let me play some lullaby music for you that your parents left.

[He turned on the CD player with her lullaby music and out came the thunderous tune of Dethklok with their song, Murmaider, which made Xalvadora squee with glee. ]

Dario Polo (eye twitching): Your parents let you listen to this! It's bad enough that bastard knocked Paulina up, but now he's polluting my grand- (stops himself from saying the word)

[Xalvadora continued bobbing her head while still chewing on her rod as her grandfather was trying to deny this child was actually his granddaughter. ]

Dario Polo (growled): Don't get involved Dario, this child is not your granddaughter. You will not get attached. You will-

[Two Hours Later: Where Dario is bringing back Xalvadora, who had fallen asleep, to Green Rod at Pilar and Dr. Dai's house.]

Dario Polo: Paulina, I've only babysat her once this afternoon but if anything happens to her I will destroy your boyfriend and his gang then end myself.

[Green Rod rolls her eyes and smiles a bit as she takes her sleeping daughter back from her father.]

Sometime after they signed the deal with Treize and Romefeller, behind the backs of their parents/guardians. This song is also a perfect metaphor of the trouble they're about to face...

"You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round round round"🎧🎧 The G-Boys are covering (rehearsing) the song by Dead Or Alive in my head.

Trowa is mesmerizing everyone's senses with his antics. Heero and Wufei find it annoying, while Duo and Quatre are having fun with it... Zechs is having the headache I had earlier.

Now Trowa and Duo are giving Relena nightmares (all because of that Dethlok song), the others are going hard on the instruments. "Awaken" ... Zechs is beginning to lose it.

Trowa is teaching (repeating) the first few lines of "Smooth" to Heero and Duo, since they can handle that low octave Rob does... Yet they refuse. Duo insists on teaching Trowa how to stretch his range... Staring contest ensues, while the others focus on playing Santana's music by ear. Zechs is trying to figure out how to force them to get to bed.

"That's your song, Trowa! C'mon, man. You know I don't like touching avenues that aren't mine." "Then let's do it together!" Looks at the others and waves his arms, "From the top!" Music restarts. "Latin is fun. I promise." Trowa winks.

He eventually introduces Duo and Heero to Salsa. The pair makes multiple attempts. When Wufei and Quatre resume their “Bad Boy” attitude and poke fun at the pair, Trowa retrieves a video camera and demands that they try.

Shuts them up rather quickly.

Quick question, why wasn’t Pickles full-on old man alt?? Like, who said “OK, yeah lets just stop at the eyebrow piercings,”??? Was there no one in the room that said “Hey what about his ears and nose and tongue and clothes?” ?????
