Don’t ask me about my music taste unless you want a 6hr lecture on my favourite progressive metal bands.
3, 6, 9 you kind person
Oh, I am wound
3: A song that reminds you of Summetime.
Waterpark Bachelorette by Destrage. There's an almost surf rock type vibe to go along with the System Of A Down level lyricism and the crazy ass tempo changes, and I just like to sing it when I'm thinking of driving around during the summer.
6: A song that makes you want to dance.
King Of Swords Reversed by The Dear Hunter. A fun dancey groove on the guitar combined with the odd but working combination of violins, as well as the breakdown at the end where the drummer just goes ham. Not to mention I did actually dance live to this song once.
9: A song that makes you happy.
Your New Aesthetic by Jimmy Eat World. It's a short one for sure but I love it lyrically, the themes of wanting to create something new instead of copy pasting whatever is popular and watching the people you know and love not taking the same path just speaks to me.
Metal Blade Records – Destrage “Blah Blah” (Guitar Playthrough) Matteo Di Gioia performs "Blah Blah" from "A Means to No End." Video by Camilla Boró (Sandhog Music Production).
You can try to put Destrage in a box but you will never succeed. Words such as “progressive”, “cinematic”, “mathcore”, “technical” and “groove-laden”, could be thrown at them, but really the only one you need is Destrage, for they are in a category of their own making. This has never been more true than on A Means To No End, the fourth full-length from the Milan, Italy-based 5-piece, which was released last October via Metal Blade Records. Riveting from start to finish, it leads the listener through an emotionally-charged labyrinth of complex yet catchy melody and muscle, following nobody’s rules, and it stands out as one of the truly unique releases of 2016.
For a preview of A Means To No End, Destrage has now launched a play-through video by Camilla Boro (Sandhog Music Production) for the album track “To Be Tolerated” (featuring guitarist Ralph Salati), which can be viewed at: youtube.com/watch?v=aQlFp7XgxNA
