A sketch I’ve done over the last few days. Not bad. Probably would’ve been fine without Dessad but heyho. What you gonna do. Superman, Darkseid and Jonathan Kent look brilliant. Lois Lane looks fine. #JackedKirby - Desaad, bringer of pain! Back in the early 1970s Jack drew a sketchbook full of original renderings of his characters as a gift for his beloved wife Roz. The book's contents were eventually reprinted in a hardcover edition called "Jack Kirby's Heroes and Villains" which is very hard to obtain a copy of (trust me, I have tried!). The original sketchbook was disassembled and sold off individually at auction because the Kirby family did not believe there to be a buyer to pay the high price of all that original art. I find it interesting that Jack would include a character like Desaad in a collection of sketches for his dearest love Roz. Desaad is such a dark character and represents pain/torture/death... Yet he had a place in Jack's visual love letter to his longtime bride.
