Something I've noticed in Hollow Knight is that all the spells without upgrades are named after the spell itself, while the upgraded versions are named after the void, while still keeping the spell's theme
Vengeful spirit (i mean. This spell is described to be a spirit but why is it vengeful. Maybe it just describes its power because this is the first spell you get) -> Shade soul (your soul does become a shadow after you die at some point. might be a reference to that or they just needed other words to describe the void)
Desolate dive (because it dives into the floor and you get it after defeating someone, making the boss room look desolate) -> Descending dark (the void symbolizes darkness)
Howling wraiths (the soul you use for it is described to be howling) -> Abyss shriek (the abyss is the place where you find the upgrade and it is also connected to the void)
This spell is limited to classes that have proficiency in all martial weapons and cast arcane spells. [Paladin, Ranger, College of Valor Bard, College of Swords Bard, War Domain Cleric, Hexblade Warlock, Eldritch Knight, and Bloodhunter]
