Fanart challenge thing 1/6: Desolas Arterius

So, this was... a lot. It's honestly kinda funny how short it ended up being for all the time and effort that went into it

Of course, he’s awful at dating. The man does not know how to talk about himself like you would on a first date. His speech is also littered with militant terms and comparisons that a civilian would find hard to follow.

Given his history and stoicism I think he’d just have to find a friend for life rather than a romantic partner. But I want romance headcanons so here’s what I’ve got.

He’d be the type to bring you a single flower over a bouquet. More practical that way.

Dates would include dinner and shooting ranges. Armax Arena type stuff.

He actually can cook pretty well. When he was younger he looked after Desolas a lot. Their dad rarely cooked.

He’s got control issues and some anger issues. He has a bad habit of “going for the jugular” during arguments to try and win them. It’s something he has to work on.

It takes him awhile to figure it out but eventually he realizes he needs to work out the argument rather than trying to win it.

He often communicates his affection through acts of service. Doing chores or running errands is pretty common.

Cooking for him puts him in a good mood.

Careful tho, he’s pretty allergic to amino stuff. He has medicine he can take but it still poses a risk.

Double dates with Nihlus.

Despite the casual military sex, getting to relationship sex takes awhile. It’s more intimate than he’s used to.

He doesn’t do PDA. Don’t try it. Most you’d ever get out of him is a quick peck on the head and even that’s rare.

He’s a big reader. Would very much like to curl up beside you with a book.

i know logically one of the first things des probably taught saren was the basics of cooking at least enough that he wont die on his own

and also so des doesn't have to cook a million things bc he eats so damn much from being a biotic

BUT LIKE im Deeply amused by the idea of saren having No Fuckin Clue how to cook at all whatsoever

he exists on takeout and fast food and restaurants and nihlus while arguing they exist for a reason(+prolly flattering and smooching nihlus a Lot even if he knows he'd do it anyways)

bc then u can have a day like

some important day where he's w nihlus uhh nihs birthday their anniversary smthin?? idk fill in the blank here

and he's like how do ppl show affection and junk Aw Yes Food

so saren kicks him out of the house like goodbye go look at the pet store or sit in a cafe and look at ppl u think r pretty ill cook

so he leaves and saren Attempts to cook

which means that a couple hours later hes calling avitus like "hELP there's (insert turian equivalent of lobster) running around the house IT TOOK MY KNIFE MY FUCKING KNIFE avitus stop laughing and help me"

so avitus is like "why don't u call nihlus or ur brother and have them help"

"i can't that would be admitting defeat 2 nihlus and my brother would make fun of me Come Help You Fucker"

so the kitchen is a mess there's a turian lobster running around w knife and saren deeply debates using his biotics or shooting it while avitus is dead from laughter
