I find subnautica architects very interesting. I might acc start working on my au/mini comic about al-ans and robins visit to the planet. I plan on making a few characters of my own and theyre pretty much all fleshed out.. in my head.
Also I have a hc that architects are born via fabrication, mostly as already competent adults. After the kharaa bacterium it wasnt possible so the species began dying. After that they began isolating themselves from infected architects, also trying to cut off from the hive mind, which some succeeded.
The problem with the hivemind is that if it is infected it slowly starts infecting others (this is a hc), so the planet is full of zombie-like architects or just talking corpses.
The comic would follow a group of architects basically scavenging remnants of the civilisation for energy sources and ways to maybe get out as there are little things operational at that point. They also have a little special lad alongside them, a young architect, prolly the first one to be born as a juvenile in a long time.
Because it was born after the hive mind became too dangerous to be connected to they cannot speak properly. Communication with them is really limited and despite their best tries nobody can teach the little guy how to actually speak.
Their intelligence would be far greater than a human toddler tho, just difficulty speaking.
Al-an and robin in this setting arrive after the group is introduced. They explore the remnants of the ancient society while al-an is trying to keep calm from everything he sees. If he was human he would probably vomit at the sight of so many corpses. Robin is trying to empathize with him, but struggles to grasp whats in front of her most of the time. She wants to be supportive towards her friend but is also driven by curiosity while they walk around corpse filled corridors.
Why did I not start working yet on the comic? CAUSE IM A LQZY CHUD QND ITS A WIP FOR LIKE 5 MONTHS
