I was super excited for Resonance, and I think overall it met those expectations. It’s interesting because I don’t have very strong opinions or (sorry) interest in Dream’s non-Mark rap line so them being so heavily featured honestly dampened it slightly for me. I have a soft spot for Jisung, but he was probably the least featured of the three (although I think he was great in FIMLS).

That being said, part 1 is almost entirely enjoyable for me. Nectar, FIMLS, Make A Wish, and From Home were easy to get into right away, and Music, Dance and Light Bulb took me a listen or two but are now definitely two of my favorites of the project. Volcano grew on me over time, and now I appreciate it a lot as well. I also no longer skip Déjà Vu which is a compliment 😂 The only song I still can’t really do is Dancing in the Rain (sorry Jaehyun).

For Part 2, 90’s Love and Raise the Roof are the immediate standouts to me.

90’s Love is so good at its concept, as an actual 90’s baby who grew up on 90’s music haha. I liked the Poison sample too - a nice homage. Adrian McKinnon worked on 90’s Love and he’s just worked on some of my all time favorite songs - The 7th Sense, Non Stop, Turn Back Time, Jonghyun’s Moon, EXO’s Forever.

Raise the Roof is perfectly weird and powerful. Johnny makes me laugh haha, but Jungwoo and Taeil are so unbelievable. Sonically, I really like how Raise the Roof > Volcano > Light Bulb sound in the way they’re ordered in part 2. It sits well to my ear.

My Everything is gorgeous but it made me cry so I need some time before I’m in the mood for it again haha. I liked IOU - it’s so pretty, Doyoung and Kun sound gorgeous, but it is kinda cheesy haha. It’s so divisive though! People seem to either love it or hate it.

Work It is sooooooo weird and I’m relistening to it as I write this and I actually really like it. I love the stylized autotune, vocal dynamics and layering, and the drum machine. The skrrt skrrts are a little rough though, Tennie lmao.

I don’t like All About You (yet?) unfortunately. Edit: actually, relistening and it’s fine - I like it haha.

The interludes and outro are SO strong. I so appreciate NCT for taking those tracks so seriously and consistently ensuring they add a lot to their albums.

Also I love the album concepts for both, and I think they both introduced Sungchan and Shotaro well and intregated XiaoHenYang well into the units.

Witchbrew - Anamorphosis album review

Lets break it down. Witchbrew is the name of the artist, sounds like a concoction and the album name is Anamorphosis.

The definition of Anamorphosis is a distorted projection or drawing which appears normal when viewed from a particular point or with a suitable mirror or lens. The album is electronic as is the artist. I can hear the talent similarities from Diamond Wave project to Witchbrew, a consistency.

I will give my review song for song which there are 11 approximately 3:30 seconds each to give you the mean.

1. Truant

Truant begins with a natural sound emerging from the misty grounds and then percussion drums start to slowly become louder with many strong thick mixed synths  popping from many corners and then sounds of a keyboard that play like termites creating architecture in a mound. A rock-steady dub vibe starts to echo with a triangle. Artists this song reminds me of - Tycho, Glass Animals

2. Screened

Starts with the sound of a flickering lighter, a hip-hop beat, a hazey voice and snapping. Its very light and has an Eastern aesthetic, some of the pop sounds like it is dreamy rock meats emo, such as The XX, and melodies that work in two parts like Bach, contains sounds that remind me of Video Gamers retro glitch distortion,

3. Seep

Seep sounds like it has lots of water, as if I were inside of an emulation that I am desperately trying to escape and it reminds me of my hometown where I live, and yet, it is not my home. This is a dream and when I wake up it will be over, the water even when looking like pixels, sounds like water in a cave. The water droplets remind me of Andreas Vollenweider, the early part of a month is a pattern I noticed to be infused in both artist’s creativity.

4. Growth

Growth sounds so good, it could even be used as a beat for artists like Kid Cudi, Witchbrew has shown some versatility for his melodies showing how well he is able to be mutable within many spectrums of electronic sound. When I hear this song I think of man who is keeping optimistic with a mental declination and has a few ticks, and yet, on the inside even with strong sights of Schizophrenia he is an artist whose art is so good that he can make Hell become Heaven. He continues to fight and he makes his illness his artistic strength, letting no fight within himself tear him down and he is coming out on top combining it with fierce bi-polar disorder and utilizing ADHD creativity to imagine his way in and out of places most do not survive to attain such standard of life’s excellence it is considered the highest, mental growth.8v

5. Collapse

The beginning of Collapse start out with lots of eclectic sounds that are creating very technical sounds in unison. The music has very calming and tranquil sounds that can put the mind at ease and zen as if you are stepping into a Buddhist shop. The music does not make a lot of drum sounds, and yet, it does have a lot of ticking sounds. It could also resemble the sound of something delicate collapsing, maybe a subconscious euphimism for the economic crisis.

6. Uhhh...

Uhhh... sounds clueless as to what to feel, so throwed. It makes me feel like I’m gone, like a Pink Floyd track that you know is on the album and you skip because you know the state of mind it is taking you into.

7. Greenhouse (Interlude)

Greenhouse sounds very bluesy, I can hear a girl with soul start singing over this song. Erykah Badu could do well with a track sound like this, or we could take it to a poetry club where after you sing and read underground lyric Holly starts to snap, well dressed in jackets and coats.

8. Trial

Trial sounds like the creator putting you to the test to see if you should make it where you are going, has a lot of dub sound to it, mostly assorted electronic melodies with an occasional key that may resemble  a moving meteor nearing Earth.

9. Fall

Fall sounds like the perfection and continuation of Trial, it is a music box dancer on your grandmother’s night stand that you open up for the first time and 30 seconds in you find $100 underneath the dancer and the music still plays and then by a minute in you find a note that it was about your grandfather trying to work harder so that your grandmother does not leave him. A sound in relation to some tip-toeing around her territory.

10. Halt

Halt sounds like all the obstacles in your way are now slowly arriving to a halt and now we are on a fast-track somewhere, somewhere awesome that you could have only fathomed in your dreams.

Arsenal :

Another character I created for a story, and as always also used for roleplay. His real name is Darryl but he uses the nickname Arsenal has a bounty hunter (because he also has a little bounty on his head). In some RP he was Derys’ twin. He hates his brother and his main objective is to beat him (keep dreaming). He loves weapons, especially a big minigun he takes everywhere he goes. He’s some sort of stupid and brutal beast but he’s not really mean. He’s easy to provoke and Saltz (another OC) loves to tease and make fun of him (so he hates Saltz). He is small in height and hates when someone reminds him about it x)
