There was once a Dervaish, he went by the motto “Whatever God wants for me, so be it”. He’d walk around repeating the same sentence, or some variation of it, consistently. One day, while walking through a market, a man heard him muttering these words and decided to throw a rock at him. The Dervaish turned around, surprised. The man who threw the rock responded “what’re you looking at? Whatever God wants for you right, He’s the one that wanted the rock thrown at you, I’m not involved”. The Dervaish thought for a minute, smiling he said “don’t worry, if God meant for me to get this pain, I would’ve gotten it one way or another. I just turned to see who He used as a vessel for my pain, and who, in turn, was humiliated (main bus ye dekh raha tha k iss takleef ko mujh tak pohanchanay main kis ka moun kala ho raha hay)”.
