“It’s a beautiful thing when career & passion come together” In high school I loved the sciences, and I always had a thing for healthcare bc my mother is a PA. I used to go to take your daughter to work day & saw some cooool things (she was in surgery, still is🧠). I started out pre-med. I had a guidance counselor tell me my grades weren’t good enough & I should try other areas of medicine. I declared my major as Pre-Med anyway. I was living life, doing well academically, scholarship for soccer team, working as a Pharm technician then dermatology medical assistant. I worked as a derm MA bc I had acne & it was bad. I was seen by a Derm PA when I went for my office visit & I loved her. I went on the acne creams website to learn more about it. That was when my Derm interest sparked. Once I was an MA I was sold on Derm. I started to wonder if medical school was the right choice for me mostly the time & the finances. I also wanted the ability to choose my specialty (Derm). That was the toughest part of my undergrad: deciding PA vs MD vs PhD in genetics, biology, etc. I literally thought of every job for a bit. I was knee deep into online forums about PA vs MD, and asked multiple PAs, MDs, their opinion. in my experience, most of them suggested PA. When I told my advisor I was thinking twice about med school, she said “but why you’re so smart” — oo the irony 🤣 being a PA Isn’t less than , & it’s certainly not the easier route. It’s a different route, a different career that I’m happy to be apart of 💗 my ability to be practicing in dermatology is the icing on the 🎂 thank you to my colleague @theskin.ny for starting this!!👩🏻⚕️👩🏻⚕️ . . . . #mywaytoPA #waytoPA #dermatology #dermPA #physicianassistant #medicine #womeninmedicine #skinnywhitecoat #careergoals (at Ridgefield, Connecticut) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bq_T-9kBuK_/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=axgunrwqa7tk
