Tony had decided to travel. Because he was lonely and hurting and that was what people his age did. Rhodey was going to join him in a week, but for now, he could just go and see what he liked. He wouldn't be able to truthfully tell anyone he really paid attention to where he was, but somehow, Scotland was nice enough to make him want to go out into the hills by himself. Sure, it was reckless and stupid and Rhodey would have his head for it later when they met up, but he had a satellite phone and a radio and a map and compass. And plenty of food and water. And exploring the wilderness somehow helped him feel a little less lost, as ironic as that was. When he wandered into the set of iron gates with the manor beyond, he wasn't entirely sure what possessed him to enter, but he couldn't imagine it bring occupied, especially with everything unlocked, so what was the harm? "Hello? Anyone home?"
