#demon fics

This is an update since I'm back in a mental space where I can start writing again. [A bit of my personal thoughts at the end] I am continuing all of my current fics, none will be abandoned but some will be on a long hiatus before I get to them, so I'm sorry for the delay on those, but I'll most likely fix the aus they are based on. Now for the statuses of those:

The Witch Bride and The Groom Ghost: I will most definitely be finishing this one in the next coming year, I have been plotting it out and have all the chapter drafts finished. However, I will most likely be moving the chapter upload from once a week to once every two weeks due to the chapter length [boy they are long jdsknf] and my work schedule picking up. Art will added later on.

Subcon Waltz: This will most likely take a while for me to revisit, mostly because I am plotting out the chapters and reworking most of it, no drafts have been done as of yet but I have a pretty good idea of where the story is headed. Plus this has been a story I've been wanting to get back to since it's been in the works for so long, it's a nice mix of the fairytale tropes, horror, and that good old Subcon dark humor lol. I really come to love it :>

How To Be a Loving Family: This is definitely one that will take me the longest to get back to work with due to the amount of rework that I'll do with the AU. A lot of it going to change from what I had in mind but it's for the sake of feeling comfortable with it. That said, once again, the current chapters will be reworked a little at a later point once I have a clear idea of the reworked AU.

I'm also working on 2 new fics not yet to be announced but they're being worked on behind the scenes on occasion. Thank you so much for sticking with me on these, your kudos and comments are appreciated!

A bit of a personal journey with writing these fics

There aren’t enough Demon Papa Emeritus I/II/III/IV fics on AO3.

Your English is perfect – no need to apologize! And yes, I’d love to suggest some vampire fics but for some reason there are not that many that I’ve loved. I’ll throw in some demons and such, too. Maybe that’ll give you the dark vibe you’re going for.

Scorpions et Madragores by Stria (E, 23K) Read the tags and author’s note on this one because there are some themes that could be triggering. This is a dark fic and Harry is a pretty creepy vampire, but the story is very well told and there’s a happy ending.

Somethin' Old and Red by nonsensedarling / @absoloutenonsense (NR, 6K) I really loved this one––it was full of pining and magic and lots of flirting. I could happily read so much more about these two characters.

Devil in my brain, whispering my name by @lunarheslwt (E, 9K) i i thought this author struck a great balance between the dirtiness of a demon defiling an angel and the way the angel gave in to his desire to be defiled. Super sexy.

But If This Ends by nonsensedarling / @absoloutenonsense (E, 107K) This author referred to this fic as their “depressed vampire” fic while they were writing, and it is that. But it’s also a unique story with beautifully fleshed out characters, plot twists, and super hot smut. Go check it out! Link is to a download.

My husband (29/M) died and has been possessed by a demon and now he’s cooking eggs in my kitchen as if nothing happened, what do I do? by adoreloux (M, 4K) I’ve only recently found this author, but I love their fics. They’re definitely unique, just a bit quirky, and so well written. This one made me cry (I mean, Harry is dead. Sort of).

just a flicker in the dark by @falsegoodnight (E, 57K) I just finished this one last night and it was so good! The super original story and great pacing definitely had me on the edge of my seat. It had everything in it: hate to love, exes to lovers, scary supernatural elements, warm friendships, plus a sexy and emotional smut scene. Highly recommend it!

something wicked this way comes by adoreloux (E, 7K) weird, unique, and delightfully quirky. I’ve read a bunch from this author and they can all be described that way, all well as having sparse, crisp writing. This one has a Twin Peaks vibe, and a very concerned Louis trying his best to protect Harry. They’re both human, but the town they live in is full of creatures that are... not. 

we should open up (before it's all too much) by @disgruntledkittenface (M, 43K) This was just a really unique and beautiful story about loss, grief, and learning how to open up to someone.

Soaked In The Blood Of Angels by whoknows (E, 41K) This was such a nice surprise when it posted because it’s been ages since I last read a vampire fic in this fandom. The characterizations are pretty much the way this author usually writes them, but I enjoyed the way it works in this one––it’s a dark cat and mouse game between a vampire and an incubus (sex demon). Definitely worth a read.

blood bank by starseas (E, 9K) I think I was on a roll with old fics by authors I like, because this is another one. This author just writes beautifully and this fic is wonderfully dreamy, poetic, and sexy.

call you mine by @falsegoodnight (E, 13K) Vampire Harry sets out to prove that being bit by a vampire is much better than Louis thinks it is. Sexy friends to lovers goodness!

The Man Who Saw the Devil by metal_eye / @metal-eye (E, 4K) Let me just tell you that this fic is the perfect solution to your boring Sunday. It’s gloriously unique, seriously sexy, and just fucking heady and rich and I’m still thinking about the characters days after I read it. Do yourself a favor and go indulge yourself!

hope you guessed my name by juliusschmidt (E, 9K) Harry is a devil, Louis is human. I don’t know what it is about this fic, but I just adore it. It’s so moving and so beautifully written and yes, I cried over Harry being a lonely cryptid.

Run and I’ll Give Chase by orphan_account (E, 25K) I really liked the characterizations in this one; the way Harry wants Louis, but is afraid to want him, and then finally gives in? So sexy and so good! Plus…there’s a second part Jump and I’ll Catch you (E, 13K) that I look forward to reading. (both H and L are vampires)

Run Like the Devil by Benzos (E, 140K) If you like supernatural elements and demons and dark themes, this fic has it in spades. In a way it’s almost more of a character study, and it’s unsurprisingly pretty OOC, but it’s very well done. Read the tags. (Harry is a demon, Louis is a demon hunter)

I Will Never Rust by stylez (E, 38K) I read this one years ago, so my notes simply say “gorgeous, sexy, emotional”. Not much help, but I love the premise that it’s a uni AU where Harry is a vampire.

finding you was hard (but loving you was easy) by togetherwecouldbealright (M, 67K) Another one I read ages ago (are people even writing vampire fics these days???) and my notes at the time read “I loved this story. The smut wasn’t even a factor (although the little bits of it were really good). The declarations of love were amazing and made me CRY”. Lol! I love how I made that comment about the smut. Hahaha! Old me was very used to a lot of smut in fics. Anyway, this author has written a couple I really enjoyed. I hope this one hold up. (Harry’s a vampire) This fic has been deleted and the link is to a download

Say Hallelujah, Say Goodnight by alivingfire (E, 110K) This is an epic Angel and Demon fic that I still think about from time to time. It’s action packed throughout, heartbreaking at points, and full of beautifully written passages. A wild ride from start to finish.

Domestic Monsters by g_uttertrash (9-part series, 234K, mixed ratings) No rec for witches would be complete without this wonderful series of fics. It’s just full of magic and banter and great writing and complex characterizations. 

The Devil You Know by Awriterwrites / @a-writerwrites (E, 36K) I always really enjoy this author’s fics and they write some seriously steamy smut, This one also happens to involve vampires and a murder mystery. If you enjoy it, there are 2 short sequels.

Since I don’t actually read a lot of vampire fics, I had to ask @cuethetommo​ for some suggestions, so these are from her:

Like, sexually?

Harry’s a vampire who doesn’t bruise, Louis is his possessive boyfriend.

It’s stupid to try and hide anything from a vampire, isn’t it? Louis could track every stutter of his heartbeat from across the city, if he wanted. There’s no way he’s missed Harry’s reaction to him. A bloody blind idiot can’t have missed it.
