cursed child has a very backwards view on antinatalism, instead of blaming the parents who doomed their kid to suffer throughout her life, they blame the kid for pretty much existing.
killing off craig was an excuse to have a villain, because they needed one. they just needed a valid reason to arrest delphi, otherwise it would seem immoral, but they were planning on arresting her the second they found out about her. when her room was searched, nobody knew that craig had died yet, and still they were terrified of her. just because she's voldemort's daughter, they were scared of her WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING THAT SHE HAD DONE ANYTHING WRONG.
the addition of parseltongue would be fine if people didn't associate parselmouths with salazar slytherin and voldemort because in cos everyone had the mentality of parselmouth=evil, meaning delphi probably wouldn't have stood a chance in society anyway because of the ways in which she is different. parseltongue is an inherited language, and the speakers cannot control the fact that they were born speaking it, yet they are discriminated against. mind you tom riddle was an actual child when he found out he could speak to snakes.
"but she still shouldn't have lied to albus and scorpius!!" if i was voldemort's kid, i certainly would lie too! that isn't the kind of information that anyone would be willing to give out to complete strangers, especially those whose parents are connected to the ministry and could get you arrested or even executed immediately. i don't blame her for lying. she was protecting herself by hiding that part of herself, even if she was going about it the wrong way.
i can't imagine how she was feeling when rodolphus told her who she really was, that her parents were the two worst people of their generation, and that she was theirs. imagine having that kind of legacy welded to your back. there is just no way she would have managed to be out in the real world all by herself. she would have been eaten alive.
who said that
