The introduction of Glory-bee, Goofy's girlfriend and the last of Gottfredson's characters.
Dell Connell will use her in strips and sunday pages throughout the 70s, and in some stories he wrote for Walt Disney Comics Digest in the same period. She has features in some S stories, brazilian ones and in one Disney Global episode of Young Donald Duck.
Without doubt the most interesting part of her arc is the beginning, when she displays great chemistry with Goofy, avoiding the tropes of the girlfriend being a source of distress for the male character and the offputting effect of having to endure Goofy quirkyness, which she, instead, willingfully embraces. Gottfredson combines this characterization with pushing acting and very inventive clothing choices. These late carreer strips reveal a dormant aspect of his artistry: the fact that he had the skills of a fashion designer, to lay out styles and grasp the trends that were happening around him. Rarely I've seen authors so keen in portraying these aspects of real life in their Disney panels.
And finally we have a gf who isn't a copycat of their partners. It's a bit weird when it becomes so prevalent.
