Love your take on Ace and Murdoc in your newest Gorillaz post !
Can we have few headcanons on how the band enjoys kissing the reader please ?
Have a nice day :)
yess I've been meaning to write more gorillaz! I included a jealousy thing bc why not
Gorillaz x reader kissing hcs + Ace
Character/s: Murdoc, 2D, Noodle, Russel, Del, Ace
Type: Fluff, lil bit spicy (for murdoc and russel)
TW: nothing burger
Summary: How the different band members would kiss you
Murdoc
he's smooth about it, but also out of no where. kisses you for no reason
he wants kisses from you a lot, and adores when you're first to initiate.
he usually goes about it by moving his hand to your waist, then tugging you to him and smooching you.
sometimes though, when you're both alone, he wraps his arms around your neck to kiss you, a lot softer.
his kisses are either long and passionate, or short and sweet, there's no in between.
kisses the fuck out of your neck when you're in private, you always have hickeys or bite marks on you.
when he's jealous, his kisses get a bit more intentional, a bit more rough too sometimes. Intentionally places his hand on your hip or cheek, y'know.
2D
This man is awkward about it when you first start dating
he isn't sure when he's allowed to kiss you, but even if you express that he can kiss you whenever, he'll get nervous.
later on in your relationship though, he gets more confident.
cheek kisses all the time, same with hand kisses when he's about to go on stage.
When he kisses you, he likes to keep his hand on your cheek. He thinks it's sweet.
gets very flustered if you initiate with your hand on his hip or something, and when you initiate in general he gets giggly.
when you're cuddling, he loves kissing the top of your head.
if he's jealous, and you're early on in the relationship, he doesn't speak up on it, but when you're in private he does.
if you've been dating for a long time and he's jealous, he does speak up. By speaking up, I mean he walks up, kisses you on the cheek, and asks if you're ready to go. Totally ignores the other person
Noodle
this girl is so different about it, you're never sure what type of kiss you'll get.
when you're just hanging out, its either a lil smooch or a sweet kiss on the cheek
other times, it ranges from regular kissing, to kisses on the corner of your lips. seriously.
loves receiving kisses on the tip of her nose, and also when you initiate kisses.
if she's jealous, she's not shy about it 9 times out of 10. Will typically go to you and the other person, tell them you're taken, and storm off with your hand in hers.
Russel
this man knows how to kiss beautifully. he's such a lover I can't even.
he knows the perfect time to kiss you to calm you down, knows where to kiss to make you squeal, everything.
kiss the top of his bald ahh head and he won't know whether to laugh or be complimented. Takes it as a compliment.
kisses you after dates or when he drops you off at you're house. If you live together though, he kisses you anyway when you get home.
the type to ask if you want a kiss and then hand you a Hershey's kiss. But then kisses you as an apology.
if he's jealous, he waist until the other person is gone, and then once he has you alone, he kisses you so passionately you're sure your soul left you.
Del
you phase through him when you try to kiss him.
He tries too, but you phase through him again.
you settled with 'almost kisses', where he either blows you a kiss or acts like he did kiss you.
Ace
we're not gonna act like this man doesn't hold you by your hips and dip you when you kiss.
if not that, he grabs your face with both his hands and smooches you.
adores if you kiss his nose or forehead, giggles like a teenage boy in puppy love.
if he wants you to kiss him, you'll notice since he starts following you like right behind you. If you're sitting he goes behind you and puts his head on your shoulder.
kisses with him are long and sweet, he's so the type to giggle after kissing you.
if you're kissing in bed, like cuddling or something u perv. After he's satisfied with the kisses he's given you he gazes at you and sighs dreamily, then lays his head under your chin and dozes off.
not kissing related but he sleeps on top of you like a clingy cat.
but if he's jealous, he's the one here that isn't afraid to go up and just daringly kiss you, dipping you whilst doing so. he is confident but if you get mad he feels so rejected omg

I need some advice on writing, specifically writing for Del from gorillaz.
I got a request and he's one of the characters, and I really want to fulfill it completely.
But I have no fucking idea how to write for him. To be be honest I'm not 100% on gorillaz lore, I know a lot of early stuff and have done my research, but on the time-line especially on the later phases I'm a bit more fuzzy on as unlike the early phases everything was done and lot less coherently, and the lore is a lot more multi media than it used to be, and it's hard trying to soak up all this info in a cohesive manner. I'm working my way though it and have been for while but I find it hard to keep track of everything.
And especially when it comes to characters that don't get as much attention any more.
And my holy grail of trying to find fics on Del to try and understand how I should write him.
Should I write him pre- posesing Russel during the possession or post possession.
I know I could just use wiki to find the lore around him, but I don't have access to it at the moment cuz I'm at school and the internet is shit, but I also don't 100% trust it to give me all the lore or present me with all sources or info about him.
So, like any advice or links to good Del fics or headcanons, it would be great if you guys know any.
I'm requesting angst please don't hate me. Could I get s o after del's death?
so this is hella late but like i did it fam.Â
Itâs tagged as Russel x OC bc Russel and OC are best friends.Â
And I had so many ideas for this, I made an OC. Alexa is an adopted Bengali girl from Brooklyn. Del was her boyfriend and the love of her life. She knew Russel since they were in the second grade. They went to Elementary school together. They he went to Xavier School for Young Achievers and she ended up going to a public middle school and eventually Brooklyn High School. When he transferred to Brooklyn High School after his supernatural experiences in the other school, sheâs the one who introduced him to the group which included Del and a bunch of others who became some of his best friends.Â
Sheâs probably one of my favorite OCs and I have more about her and her backstory if anyone would request it.Â
Also, I wrote more to this if anyone cares. Not posting it bc Iâm not so sure about it yet but if anyone requests anything more Iâll probably end up posting it.Â
Iâm using my phoneâs hotspot to edit this because I really couldnât post this without it being formatted. Kms, iâm gonna get charged so bad for this.Â
Warning: It should probably be obvious from the prompt but there is hella angst and shit below. Talk about death and existential shit and stuffs.Â
Part 1:Â
It was a dark day, one of those days where you just want to lay in bed and forget everything exists, thatâs exactly what happens. Nothing matters, nobody matters, everyone dies in the end anyway. Why are we even trying? Why do we try to get up at the right time, make it to school, get good grades, get a job. Why do we bother falling in love if the person you love the most will be torn away anyway?
These thoughts swirl around in her head as she lays down in bed with the covers over her head. Tears are running down her face again. Her tears threaten to spill every couple of minutes as everything she looks at, everything she thinks about reminds her of Del.
The door to Alexaâs room slowly creaks open and in steps her cat who leads in her friend and the only survivor of the incident, Russel .
Russel steps in to the dark, messy room, his knock not being acknowledged by the crying mess in bed. He clears his throat when he steps in the room and sees Alexaâs shaking form under the sheets.
âLexâŚâ He says in a low voice. âLexieâŚâ He repeats.
âWhat are you even doing here? â She snaps from under the covers with a shaky voice.
Russel approaches the bed and puts a hand on her blanket covered shoulder. Her back faces him and her head is still covered by the sheet.
âThe funeral is tomorrow, L. I know they would have wanted you to be there. I knowâŚhe would have wanted you there. He wants you there.â
After a minute of Alexa trying to keep quiet and stop shaking while crying, he speaks up again: âPleaseâŚâ
She scrambles around and jumps out of bed, jabbing a finger at the person she used to laugh at the school lunch table withâs chest. âYou⌠you survived. You donât get to mourn. You donât get to tell me what to do, man. You get to celebrate the life you got because other people died in your place!â Alexa  explodes, yelling this out in a shaky yet sure voice with fire in her eyes. Her cheeks are still wet and her hair is a mess. Sheâs wearing nothing but underwear and an over sized shirt she stole from Del from when she slept over at his place. Alexa roughly pokes at Russelâs chest and with every furious step she takes towards him as she yells, he takes one step back until heâs pressed up against the wall. âYou⌠survived. And he didnât... You survived, Russ.â  Alexa collapses into him, feeling broken, hurt, defeted, guilty, and then terrible for projecting her anger at one of her best friends
Part 2: Alexaâs POV as the reader.
Russel grabs you by the arms tightly and looks you dead in the eyes. His eyes take on an unusual white glow youâve never seen before. You knew Russ since the 2nd grade and although Russel seems to be prone to weird shit happening to him, this is probably the weirdest thing youâve seen. You now notice that his pupils are nowhere to be seen. He has new and very prominent dark bags under his unnaturally glowing white eyes and he looks at you intensely, his hands move to your shoulders as he leads you, walking you backwards to sit you down on your bed. He gets on his knees and takes your hands, looking into your eyes, trying to project his sincerity, trying to project his genuine feelings of loss and hurt and love and pain for Del and for you.Â
âDel was my best friend, Lex. They were all my friends too, sis.â He bows his head. âI will never celebrate this. I will never look back and thank the grim reaper for sparing me. How could you think that?â Russ says with a shaky voice.
âThe grim reaper?â You couldnât help but ask, unsure if this has to do with some weird shit or if Russel is being uncharacteristically over dramatic.Â
âSome messed up shit happened that day, Lex⌠It was real messed up, it wasâŚâ  He shakes his head, tearing up. Soon the tears spill over and he canât take it anymore. He leans over, his head falls in your lap and he cries. His back shakes, his fists tighten in the sheets next to you and he sobs into your lap, making your own tears well up. You lean over with your face to his shaking back, hugging his large form,  both of you cry together, mourning the loss of both of your your best friends and your boyfriend. Whenever it seems like the pain is ebbing away, a new wave takes over and one of you starts to cry again causing a chain reaction where the other joins in. Russel ends up spending the night, you two go through old photo albums and pictures of your friends and talk about memories you two had with Del, occasionally breaking down.Â
Del is a Trooper in Torrent from the Clone Wars movie!
You bounced up and down on your toes, waiting for Rexâs attention. Youâd been working as a mechanic for the 501st long enough that he knew you were just itching to ask for something. He sighed, glancing discreetly at the time. An hour and a half until the end of your shift. If it was anyone else Rex might have thought you were asking to go home early.
âYes, (Y/N)?â Rex raised an eyebrow and tried his best not to sigh.
âI put in a request for those new parts for the three LAATs that are supposed to ship out soon but they canât deliver until tomorrow.â
Rex focused his eyes to see the datapad you shoved in his face as proof.
âThen...I guess you wait until tomorrow,â he replied patiently.
âBut I canât do anything else without them.â You were certainly not pouting.
âThen youâre welcome to clock out early if you'd like,â Rex offered, knowing full well you wouldn't take it. Your face fell and you immediately started looking something up.
âTheyâre at this warehouse on one of the lower levels. I could go there and get them myself and be back in time for the end of my shift. That way theyâre waiting for me tomorrow when I come in and I donât have to wait another hour for them.â
âYou still have another two days,â Rex reminded you, though he did you the courtesy of at least looking at your datapad again.
âYea but what if something is off and I need more time?â
While he very much doubted that would be the case, Rex still thought it best to pick his battles when it came to you. At least you knew what you were doing and he was confident putting his trust in you.
âFine then, you can go pick them up. Take one of the Republic speeders and take Del with you.â
It wasnât that he didnât think you could handle yourself but Rex was nothing if not prepared and he felt better if you had the protection of a Republic sanctioned vehicle and a trooper with you. You peered over Rexâs shoulder at the man behind him. Hearing his name heâd straightened up and turned to his Captain questioningly. âDel, escort our mechanic to the warehouse to pick up the parts she needs.â
âYes, sir.â He saluted Rex briefly and the captain nodded before moving off, giving you no time to argue or think of another excuse. The âcomm me when you return and make sure she gets back on timeâ went unsaid but understood.
âYou really donât have to come with me,â you said when Rex had gone. Not that you didnât want him to or didnât enjoy Delâs company but you didnât want to put anyone out needlessly. After all you were perfectly capable of running an errand on your own.
âCaptainâs orders, nothing I can do,â Del shrugged exaggeratedly before he grinned. âBesides, what else do I have to do with my time?â
âSleep?â you suggested, leading the way to the speeders you used for work when on Coruscant.
âI can sleep when Iâm dead. This is more fun.â
âWhat a terrible thing to say.â You ducked your head and hid your smile. Coming from someone else you would have thought it was sarcastic but you knew Del was sincere. Spending time with you, even doing something as mundane as this, was the highlight of not just his day but probably the whole week. With his helmet tucked under his arm you could see him smile.
âYou know where youâre going, you do the flying.â
âYou just want me to fly so you can screw around with the music!â
âSo?â he laughed and you pretend to shake your head.
Despite not having been there before, it wasn't hard to find where you were going. However, like most of the planet, it was quite crowded and you had to walk part of the way. When you realized how far you were glad for the extra pair of hands to help you carry everything back to the speeder. Most people going about their business had their minds on other things and stayed out of your way.
You paused, tugging on Delâs arm to pull him over to the side as you double checked your directions. He glanced around, taking note of the shops lining the narrow street.
âThatâs a weird display. Why would they put underwear on a dummy? Seems like a waste of time when you could just put the clothes on without it.â
Frowning slightly, you barely heard what heâd said, your brain trying to work out two different things at once.
âWait, what?â you asked, glancing at the store window behind you. âNo, they sell underwear. Thatâs what they're displaying.â
âOhâŚ.ButâŚ.You have to buy different underwear? That seems complicated. And expensive. No one even sees it.â
You were thrown off for a moment. It still happened sometimes, being suddenly reminded of how different things were for the troopers. Stuff that was completely normal for you was bizarre to them but you did understand the point. âWell sometimes they do see it and thatâs what this shop is for. Looks like theyâre setting up their Valentineâs display.â
You looked up at the window, reading the little signs advertising sales and deciding if it might be worth it but you knew in the end you wouldnât bother. The Pantorian setting up the mannequins saw you, her eyes flashing over to the trooper standing beside you and smiled that polite sales lady smile. You just smiled back and turned your attention to the directions again.
âOh...um...I guess...uh, that makes sense,â he replied, feeling stupid for not realizing that in the first place. The more he looked at the display the more obvious it was. It didnât escape his notice that you glanced at the signs.
âDo you uh...did you want to go in there?â Part of him hoped you would, he was so curious what a place like that would be like but the idea of going in there, with you of all people seemed a frightening concept.
âNo,â you replied off handedly. âWeâre on work time. Itâs right down this alley here.â
Del nodded and followed after you. He wanted to ask if you would have gone in if you werenât technically on the clock, he wanted to ask if you were planning to come back and he really wanted to ask if you had someone at home you would be thinking of if you did. Youâd never said and heâd never asked, partially to respect your privacy and partially because he wasn't sure he wanted to know the answer.
Instead Del asked, âwhatâs Valentineâs Day?â
It was another question that made you pause. Of course the clones didnât know very many holidays and this wasnât a particularly big one.
âI donât remember where it came from originally,â you said thoughtfully. âIâm not really sure of the whole story or why thereâs an angel that shoots you with an arrow.â
âWait, what?â he asked, sounding alarmed.
âWell not for real,â you quickly reassured the trooper. âI donât think. Iâm not really sure. Forget about that. Itâs basically a day to celebrate love.â
âReally?â His steps faltered slightly. What a thing to celebrate! âNo wonder Iâve never heard of it. I donât think thatâs the kind of thing Kaminoans would want us to waste any thought on.â
You laughed but inside you felt a twinge of sympathy for them. Their upbringing truly was very sterile. âWell youâre not missing much,â you admitted. âIt could be a day to enjoy love from family and friends but itâs mostly been co-opted by corporations and couples. So people feel bad if they donât have a partner and they think they have to spend a lot of money. Itâs gotten really shallow. Personally, I donât care for the idea that you have to do something special on one particular day. It feels forced. You should enjoy and treat your partner everyday, not just because you have to. Ah, here it is.â
âOhâŚâ Del stopped and you walked a few steps ahead before you realized he wasn't at your side.
âWhat?â you asked, turning back around.
âItâs just that...So you hate Valentineâs?â
You tilted your head and frowned slightly. âWell no. I think it's nice. I like to send my friends chocolate and little notes about why I think theyâre great. Itâs a nice reminder to show the people you care about that you love them. I just donât like when it feels forced.â
There was no mention of a partner of your own he noted, or spending the day with them. He moved to catch up with you.
âI think I understand.â
xXx
You accomplished your mission easily, making it back only twenty minutes late for the end of your shift, and that was only on account of your insisting on stopping at your favorite diner for milkshakes.
The next day it seemed all anyone was talking about was Valentineâs Day. Apparently Del wasn't the only one who heard of it and word was spreading, comparing notes on what it meant and what occurred on such a special occasion. It was almost as exciting as Life Day to hear them talk.
âWhatâs the big deal?â you asked as you took a seat with some of the boys from the 501st. They had been running a few drills with Rex all day and were not eager to get back to it. Perfect timing as you were planning to scarf down a quick lunch and return to work. Youâd had such a string of good luck until that one bolt started being difficult and broke your streak. Even all the cursing in Coruscant wasnât helping and you figured it was best to take a breather before you broke something.
âWhat do you mean?â Jesse asked, scooching over slightly for you as you made your ungraceful way in between him and Tup.
âItâs just a day. You can do nice stuff on any day,â you pointed out, breaking the weird bread-like thing you had never liked in half.
âThatâs true,â Hardcase agreed as he accepted the piece you tossed to him. âBut itâs neat to have a whole day to celebrate it, right. Love deserves to be in the spotlight.â
âSuch a poet,â Echo complimented dryly. âWhy do you take those if you never eat them? You canât drink the powder milk either.â
âBecause I know they do.â You waved the other half of the bread in Delâs face and he accepted it without thinking. Why those two loved that stuff so much youâd never understand. âThatâs actually really sweet,â you smiled as you sat back again and handed the milk to Tup. Some sort of powdered concoction that gave everyone but the clones stomach cramps.
âWhy do you act surprised?â Fives teased. âYou know weâre very sweet.â
âBesides, the kaminoans hated anything like that,â Del said, elbowing Fives out of his space. âWe always had to be careful even giving a brother a hug or comforting them. Itâs kind of a relief that thereâs a whole day where itâs not only okay, but encouraged.â
âI guess I didn't realise that,â you frowned. No wonder they were excited. It almost made you feel like something of a grinch.
âDonât you enjoy it, (Y/N)?â Tup asked you. âA romanic date or something?â
You ducked your head, snorting at that. âNo way. Not my scene.â
âAw, câmon! Give us the details,â Fives tried to goad you. âI bet you have plans, donât you?â
âShe probably has four dates lined up back to back,â Jesse added smugly.
âNo way!â you argued, trying not to be embarrassed. âThatâs too much work to organize. Iâm tired!âThey laughed as you felt your face heat up. You caught Delâs eye and he was already looking at you thoughtfully. âWhat?â you asked. He shook his head. You were curious what he was thinking so hard about but you ignored it, also doing your best to ignore the other troopers as they teased you.
xXx
It wasnât hard to think of things you liked. Del watched you enough and spent enough time around you that he picked up a few things. He knew the type of candy you preferred and the kinds of things you found funny. He knew your favorite colour and what made you stick your tongue out in disgust. But of course he remembered what you said, wanting something that was special and heartfelt, something original. Something that you would know he gave to because of how he felt, not because he was obligated. And of course it had to be something that he had access to. It was a long list of requirements but clone troopers were nothing if not resourceful.
He had some skills that may come in handy and of course connections all over the galaxy thanks to his brothers. He wasn't the only one who had ideas for the holiday. The coruscant guard had already gone through the Lost and Found in the senate building but thanks to his batchmate, Del had more than enough of what he needed.
âThe colours donât really matter,â he said to Thire, accepting the inconspicuous cloth bag stamped with the GAR logo. âAt least we have a lot of paint.â
âTrue,â Thire grinned. It was no surprise how excited he was about the holiday. Unlike many of them, Thire knew all about it already. That didnât surprise Del at all. His brother always had a soft spot for romance and he was planet side a lot more often than Torrent.
âGood luck, I hope she likes it!â
Me too, Del thought to himself as he dumped the bag on the floor of the barracks an hour later. Instantly the troopers were digging through, looking for scraps of material they could use.
âI canât believe people just walk out without noticing they left this stuff behind,â Echo said , shaking his head.
âMaybe they did notice but they couldnât go back,â Fives suggested, waving a scrap of lace. âUm, excuse me sir, I seem to have lost my shirt? Possibly in a closet when I was-â
âOkay, I get it,â Echo laughed, shoving him away. âGet that out of my face!â
Del didnât know what he was looking for but he knew it when he saw it. The garment had started life as a soft blue sweater with tiny black buttons, two of which were missing but that was perfectly fine for his intentions. Just to be safe, he found a few items that felt like they were made of a similar material. He knew how to do a basic stitch but this project was beyond anything heâd ever attempted before. The last thing he wanted to do was practice on the good material.
âYou guys are gonna regret trying to do something like this,â Hardcase said, shaking his head from his spot stretched out on the top bunk. âYou should have listened to me. This poetry stuff is a breeze!â He frowned, scratching his chin thoughtfully. âBy the way, do you guys have anything that rhymes with âperfect assâ?â
âSerpent mass?â Tup suggested.
âCharm and class,â Dogma sighed reluctantly despite his vocal reminders that he would not be participating in any of their nonsense.
âAh! Awesome!â Hardcase grinned and went back to scribbling away excitedly.
âAw, Dogma youâre a true poet at heart,â Del teased him. âYou should think about writing one yourself.â
The trooper huffed and turned away, but he couldn't hide that he looked pleased nonetheless.
âHow are you planning to sew something recognizable out of that?â Echo asked, eyeing the blue sweater.
âI know how to do basic stitches,â Del replied, although inside he was wondering the same thing. âBesides, Iâve got the holonet and a whole bunch of practice fabrics. Iâll get the hang of it eventually.â
âYea, maybe by next Valentineâs day,â Fives replied smugly. Del gave him a look.
âI got it,â Echo said, smacking Fives across the back of the head.
âHey!â
xXx
You didnât have much free time lately, too busy running around fixing things. But you were sure to make time for something like this. It wasnât anything strenuous, just your usual go-to recipe when you needed to bake something yummy, just made it a bit more festive in honor of the holiday. When Valentineâs day appeared, you were ready to hand out baked goods to all your favorite troopers and there were a lot of them.
You expected smiles and thanks from them, knowing how much they enjoyed sweet things. What you hadn't expected was the overwhelming amount of flowers and cards and poems that you received in return, too much for you to even carry on your own.
âWow...I donât even know what to sayâŚâ You stated, staring at everything. âThis has never happened to me beforeâŚâ
It meant a lot that so many would include you in the ranks of people they cared about enough to give a gift. It was almost overwhelming.
âYou're practically family,â Fives grinned as he put an arm around your shoulders. He paused when you dipped your head. âWait, are you crying?â
âNo!â you replied indignantly, too loud and too quick. You tried to hide your face as he awed at you. âStop it! Itâs not cute!â
But your protests only led to Hardcase shouting, âgroup hug!â and having the life squeezed out of you by a few overzealous troopers that tended to forget their own strength.
âSeriously you guys, this is so sweet,â you told them honestly. âYouâve restored my faith in this holiday.â You paused and looked down at the mountain of gifts in front of you. âNow which one of you is going to help me carry this home?â
The rest of the boys stepped aside, leaving Del standing sheepishly with his hand raised.
âI will.â
You laughed and handed him a couple bouquets. âMy hero!â
You probably made quite the sight, the trooper walking behind you piled with gifts but you were too happy to care, mentally thinking about where you were going to put everything.
âDid you have a good day?â you asked your companion who grinned at you from around the items in his arms.
âYea, definitely. And this is the best part.â
You knew that the boys had given gifts to each other as well, even Dogma had somehow made a very lovely mug for Rex which looked very professional next to the one Hardcase had attempted. Though the captain insisted he loved them both the same, even if the integrity of Hardcaseâs meant it was better suited as a stylus holder than a mug.
âHm,â you hummed before realising what he said.
âWait, this is? Why?â
âAnytime with you is good,â Del replied. âBut I like alone time with you best. No one to hog your attention.â
âAw,â you felt your face grow warm and looked down at your feet. He laughed, seeming completely unself conscious about voicing something like that. You wished you could be the same. âWell, I like giving all my attention to you best anyway, so I guess that works out.â
âYea, I guess it does,â he replied and you had to look away from his warm, open expression. You cleared your throat. âWell hereâs my quarters.â Instantly you regretted saying that, what like he didnât know?To cover it up you quickly open the door and lead Del inside.
âUm, I guess just put everything on the desk for now,â you said. He nodded, careful not to jostle or drop anything.
When his arms were empty and he stood in the centre of your room he looked nervous for the first time.
âDid you want to stay a bit?â you offered.
âMaybe,â Del smiled. âBut first I have to give you something.â
You tilted your head, watching him curiously as he reached into the pack on his hip and held out something blue and soft.
âCute! Wait...Is this...a Vulptex?â
You remembered the first time youâd seen one, on campaign with the 501st. Youâd watched them from up top the base, running and playing.
âTheyâre so adorable. I always liked seeing them on the holo,â you were almost whispering in awe. âNever thought Iâd see them like this.â
âThey are pretty cool,â Del handed you a set of binoculars to get an even closer look.
âWow! So cute!âDel laughed at your love struck expression.
âHey, want me to go down there and wrestle one for you to take home?â
You smacked his arm which only amused him more for getting the reaction he wanted from you.
âI will,â he added, moving like he was going to climb down towards them.
âStop,â you tutted, grabbing his arm. You knew he was goofing around but still. âIâm not taking the blame for you getting mauled.â
âAlright, fine. Iâll get you a Vulptex one day though.â
âUh-huh,â you replied sarcastically. âIâm sure you will.â
âWhat do I get when I do?â
âWhat?â you asked, handing the binoculars back with a frown. He took them with one hand, quickly grasping your outstretched arm with the other. You blinked as he turned you to face him.
âWhat will you give me for a Vulptex?â
You raised an eyebrow and tried not to smile. Your huge, fluffy coat had barely been enough to ward off the cold but now you were practically overheating. You couldn't even feel the wind whipping snow against your exposed cheeks, the fur hood around your face starting to freeze from the condensation of your breath.
âI donât know, what do you want?â
âWhat about a kiss?â
You should have kissed him then, you wished you had. But you were too afraid to. The silent pause spoke volumes and you saw Del open his mouth to say something but Rex had called his name and heâd quickly flashed you an apologetic look before setting his helmet on his head and the chance was gone. Neither of you brought it up since.
Youâd kicked yourself, unable to figure out how to address it. So you let it go, too afraid of your feelings. You thought he must have forgotten or just as likely, that heâd lost interest in you over time as you continued to fail in reciprocating anything.
âI wanted to give it to you in private.â
You looked up from where you had been absently stroking the stuffed animal.
âSo you finally got me one, huh?â you said softly.
âYea, think of it as an apology,â he replied shyly. âI shouldnât have said that before, Iâm sorry.â
âSaid what?â you asked. âYou mean...about giving you a kiss?â
You could tell Del wanted to look away when he nodded but he held your gaze instead.
âSo youâre saying you donât want a kiss anymore?â
âWellI wouldnât go that far,â he grinned. âBut I was out of line then. I thought for sure you would report me for that, but you didnât. Even if I deserved it. So I figured we were still friends at least.â
âReport you?â you asked, surprised. âNo, I- Well okay...the truth is I spent the next couple weeks after that kicking myself because I should have just kissed you then but I got scared and froze up. I just donât do very well with emotions like this. I didnât want to ruin anything or misread it. Like maybe it was just a friend-way and Iâd look like an idiot.â
Del just watched you, he didn't have to say anything. You could hear for yourself how ridiculous it sounded when you put it into words.
âI donât know what to say,â you sighed, clutching the stuffy to your chest. It was so soft and it smelled like him. Del must have taken a long time to make it for you, a custom stuffed animal that reminded you of him in so many ways. âI should have...I should have kissed you...Iâm sorry...What if-â
âHey, donât apologise.â Gently, he tilted your chin up to look at him and smiled softly. âYou were just waiting for me to bring you that Vulptex first, right?â
You smiled shyly and nodded.
Del grinned, poking the animalâs little black nose. âWell here they are.â
âThen I can give you your kiss now,â you whispered.
