Frustrating! It’s the only word that suits him. In the short time she’s known him, that’s all she’s been able to settle upon, the word running through her head again and again like ticker-tape. Oh, she’s sure he has his merits. She knows he does. Smart and successful despite his considerable youth, a rich guy who’s easy on the eyes; on paper, he seems like the too good to be a real person type. He suits that smirk he’s always got plastered on his face but, oh, how it frustrates her! Doesn’t it just make natural sense that she should like to take her revenge somehow? Sumi isn’t even listening to a word he’s saying anymore, lips pursed as she pieces together her plan and fingers tap-tapping away at the over-varnished arm of her chair. The only way to get back at a frustrating person is to become a frustrating person yourself; the logic seems sound enough in her head and she thinks she might have the perfect solution. 

Unannounced, she lifts herself to her feet and takes the few long strides required to reach James, although not without making a meaningful show of it first. Her posture is perfect, arms locked beneath her bust as her feet fall heavy against the tiled flooring, the resounding clicks of her heels echoing like the telltale tick-tock of a grandfather clock. Lowering herself to meet him at face level (some clumsy part of her, far back in the depth of her mind, sighs a sigh of great relief for the simple fact he is sat down; it is hard to catch a man this tall off-guard from below, no matter how tall your heels) and cradling his face in outstretched hand, Sumi leans in and, just for a few fleeting, playful moments, her lips catch his.

But, in just a moment, Sumi changes her tune, jumping back to her feet with a too-bright grin on her face; she tears herself away from with all the fluttering grace of a hummingbird, all the teasing, impish agility of a rotten fairytale sprite. “ Wow, it turns I can shut you up. What a discovery! Ah, Baek Sumi, you’re more talented than I thought~ ”

SHE TUCKS A WHIMSICAL STRAND BEHIND AN EAR, SOUR AND SOLEMN INTERTWINED.    there is no fire in her lungs today, but perhaps splinters from settled wood have transpired. the will to spit flames is practically nonexistent; she is more blue than red.    ❝    --------    i’d rather not right now.    ❞    motivation is obviously slim, as much as she tries to hide it.

‘ Hey, do you, like, smile? And I’m talkin’ big, proper smiles here. Can your face actually do that? ’

“ Right, got a question for you--- ” A glimmer of curiosity in his eyes, he leans forward, and hand cupped over half his mouth, he drops his voice to a mock-dramatic whisper. “ Have you ever stolen anything? ”

     thoroughly  ( and quite visibly )  uncomfortable, she shifts in her seat, avoiding his eye as though either will be the thing to convince him of her innocence.  “ i’m NOT lying. why would i lie to you?  –––  see, i wouldn’t. there you go. ”
