Mr. (Ant) Tenna's CRT TV Knowledge Videos
The first in my list from the knowledge horde. I've been viewing these through the lens of building headcanons for the character Mr. Tenna from Deltarune, but this list also works for anyone who wants to learn more about CRT TVs & how they work
Now, before I jump into this, I need to say this. It's one thing if you're just looking at these for research. But if you intend to try and repair a CRT TV yourself WATCH THE SAFETY VIDEOS FIRST! I cannot stress this enough.
I won't get into the exact science behind it, but because of the way that CRTs are made they maintain a high electrical charge even after they have been unplugged. It can be anywhere from enough to give you a nasty shock to enough to stop a human heart, depending on the size of the monitor and how long it's been since it's been plugged in. And it doesn't need to be discharged once, it needs to be discharged multiple times.
If you don't have proper safety equipment, or you don't feel comfortable handling this, don't open your CRT. When in doubt, just clean the outside and leave the rest to the professionals

degaussing is the process of decreasing or eliminating a remnant magnetic field. it is named after the gauss, a unit of magnetism, which in turn was named after carl friedrich gauss. due to magnetic hysteresis, it is generally not possible to reduce a magnetic field completely to zero, so degaussing typically induces a very small “known” field referred to as bias. many describe the feeling of love as “magnetic” when relating the way your body and mind is naturally attracted to somebody. in this regard, when your affection for somebody dies or is compromised, it would come in handy for a tool to de-magnetize your body or theirs to kill the attraction. in another way, degaussing tools can also destroy the magnetic field that lives inside of certain hard drive parts; the act of degaussing a hard drive would render it useless and any data nearly impossible to retrieve. this similarly speaks to people who want to destroy any feelings of attraction to someone when a relationship has ended and they’re at their lowest low.
