R: best book to film adaptation, in your opinion?
for some reason i'm having trouble thinking of book movies rn, but i actually really liked The Hunger Games adaption(s) (I have not seen Catching Fire yet, mind). the whitewashing and the--from what i've heard--complete removal of katniss and peeta's disabilities post-thg (nevermind the absence of avoxes entirely) is ALWAYS going to grate on me, but. i thought the way the book translated to screen otherwise was excellent.
(the erasure of their disabilities and the avoxes in the films is delightfully ironic though, considering how they're treated in the book canon, and i wonder if suzanne collins just sits alone in her house and laughs over it sometimes)

i actually never got into it before tumblr ran it into the ground, but the hobbit?? i already couldn't stand martin freeman's face so it didn't help that my dash at the time (this was at the tail end of me hovering around the edges of the bbc sherlock fandom) started cooing over how attractive he was and i just BARF. and then there was porn and crossovers and tHE FIRST MOVIE WASN'T EVEN FINISHED YET, WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A TRAILER and i just blacklisted it so fast my head spun.
also when i watched the first movie, i didn't like it v much. so that happened.
