we’ve been back for two minutes
 after a long day of testing and procedures, he’s antsy, exhausted, and in pain. however, the second he sees ronni reading in her room, he feels the energy seep back into his tired bones. he knows he’s supposed to be back at his room, but he can’t help it.
  he rushes up behind her, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek before grabbing her smaller hands in his. he intertwines their fingers, savoring the warmth of her fingers against his colder digits. “i’ll see you later, promise” is all he gets to say, before the nurse ushering him back to his room gives him a dirty look. he places another quick peck to ronni’s cheek before he leaves, suddenly, in a lot less pain.
