How many anime premieres can I watch in one season without going crazy? Answer: substantially less than what I’m actually watching. That’s just how it goes around these parts. Quick thoughts on everything I’m watching so far in Fall 2021:
86 Season 2: GLORY TO THE MOTHERFUCKIN’ SPEARHEAD SQUARDRON
Blue Period: Definitely digging this one. Strong voice acting, soundtrack and cinematography cover for weak animation.
Deep Insanity, the Lost Child: This is just Made in Abyss but infinitely worse. Dropped.
Demon Slayer Season 2: Will the train arc work better in episodic form? Guess we’ll see.
The Heike Story: Naoko Yamada. Science Saru. Kensuke Ushio. Need I say more?
Mieruko-chan: Waiter, there’s tasteless fanservice in my genuinely unsettling horror anime!
Mushoku Tensei Season 2: Why, why, why can’t you just suck completely so I don’t have to care about you?
Sakugan: WATCH. THIS. FUCKING. SHOW.
Shikizakura: Surprisingly good CG animation? Story’s a bunch of nonsense, but at least it looks cool.
Tesla Note: This show is a goddamn trainwreck and I can’t stop watching it.
Takt op.Destiny: Ufotable-quality fight animation and a script with some quality melodramatic cheese? Sign me up, baby!
