This is a completely ridiculous theory and fully wishful thinking: The reason Gemmill won’t commit to Deeks, M for this season is because it’s actually the episode Eric is slated to write later on this year. They want to keep it a complete surprise, so they’re pretending that it just won’t fit this year.
We're done! The final chapter of The Past is Prologue is up on ff.net. Thanks to everyone who has read and an extra huge thanks to those who've reviewed. I appreciate all the support and feedback so so much!
With the op and his testimony behind him, Marty returned to his old life. The Russians' reach could still extend beyond their prison cells, so he continued to watch his back, but he began to allow himself to believe that things really would return to normal. Yet somehow, he found he wasn't altogether thrilled at the prospect...
Oh I just thought of the perfect senario for a "Deeks, M" episode.
What if Deeks has to expose Roberta to Max Gentry when they run into a criminal that knew Deeks as Max? Imagine the mother/son angst😭
Thanks @bluenet13 for the tag! I miss reading your NCIS:LA fics but I'm happy that you've found so much inspiration elsewere.
With the year ending, let’s look back at what we did! What are your favorite creations you did or the ones you think deserve more love? Send this to 5 other creators to share the love.
Well my first thought was that I didn't actually create all that much in terms of fan fic in 2021 and that this would be a very short list. But if I expand out the eligible material to include wikiDeeks posts, I definitely have more to choose from. Thank you so much to anyone who's read anything I wrote, and especially to those who were kind enough to leave a review or comment. That feedback is incredibly encouraging.
5. Support and Defend. My take on the missing interviews from "Overdue." I wanted to see Deeks' co-workers advocating on his behalf and we got very little of that in the episode. I guess this was my small way to defend him, a common theme from this list.
4. Will there ever be a "Deeks, M"? We STILL have so many questions! I refuse to give up on this even if I'm just tilting at windmills. This kick-off post to a wikiDeeks series of fan fics, each addressing one of our outstanding questions about Deeks' background, was our way of trying to keep it on everyone's radar.
3. Remembering Ravil Isyanov. I was saddened by the passing of the actor who played Kirkin and brought so much humor and joy to his role and to viewers. This was my attempt to honor his contributions to the show.
2. The Past is Prologue. My own attempt at a "Deeks, M." story, told from the perspective of young public defender Deeks with lots of flashbacks to earlier events from his life. I lost count of the number of questions I answered, LOL. Everything from why he changed from lawyer to cop and what happened after he shot his dad, to why he keeps his hair so long. I was very thorough.
1. Dear Mr. Gemmill: An Open Letter in Defense of Competent Deeks. The Deeks at FLETC storyline hit a nerve for me and, I think, most Deeks fans. Once upon a time I had written a wikiDeeks open letter to Shane Brennan about canon consistency, so it seemed a natural follow-up to post one to R. Scott Gemmill about his poor treatment of our favorite character. That ECO liked it was a thrill, but even without his feedback this would have been the piece I was most proud of in 2021 because it was all about defending my favorite character.
Tagging @ejzah @mashmaiden @psyched @kalliopekorekind @typingtess and anyone else who wants to post!

Chapter 10 of The Past is Prologue is up, just a few hours late. It's called Impotence.
After Marty had caught his breath and let the sound of the waves sooth his racing pulse, he staggered to his feet, filed back to his Jeep, put on a t-shirt, and then drove back to Carmen's generic low-rise apartment in the sea of generic low-rise apartment buildings that made up nearby Palms, just inland from Venice. He thought he might have spotted a tail but really had no idea, although it no longer mattered since the Russians knew where Carmen lived, and his returning there after the big meet would be his natural next move. He parked, still on guard for potential trouble as he walked to her apartment door.
She opened it and stepped back, allowing him to enter. She shut the door and gently grabbed his wrist, pulling him after her into the dining room. She eyed the cut on his lip as she pointed for him to take a seat and asked, "Are you OK?"...
Chapter 8 of The Past is Prologue is up on ff.net:
After a night spent at the same Glendale safe house, Marty returned to the station bright and early the next morning, his veins already pumped full of caffeine. He arrived at Bates' office to find him engaged in conversation with a petite brunette with long, wavy hair pulled back in a loose ponytail. He hesitated in the doorway before Bates gestured for him to enter.
"Good morning, Deeks. Let me introduce you to your new girlfriend, Maria Jimenez, a role to be played by LAPD Detective Carmen Vasquez."
Chapter 6 of The Past is Prologue is up on ff.net. It's called Protection.
Marty's world had flipped upside down, so on instinct he'd driven from downtown, west across the 10 Freeway and straight to the nearest beach, in Santa Monica, where he'd tried to draw on the salty breezes, rhythmic whooshing waves, and crying gulls to calm his nerves, get his thoughts straight and figure out what to do. Everything he'd fought for, the career he'd worked so hard to build, the life that would be better than his childhood - it had all begun to crumble around him. The foundation on which he'd built this life had always consisted of questionable substance, so maybe he deserved it. Maybe this mess was what he was destined to end up with all along...
