(Headcanon) Sorry, I was thinking about it a lot recently: in my (Headcanon) I thought a lot and this is mine. Sherlock was raped by their father which caused his partial asexuality and made the distance between him and Mycroft, who was at University already, even bigger, as he wanted to hide it. Also (in my sick imagination) Mycroft, who already knew he was in love with his younger brother, found out and confronted father. (continued)

(continue headcanon - still by telepath95) As father was a cruel person (I make him a monster though) he cried about how he is disappointed with lack of obedience in sons and tried to beat him, and Mycroft took the first staff he could to protect himself which was an umbrella (that’s why he always bring one). Mycroft was upset Sherlock never tried to ask his help and Sherlock acknowledged his affection to Myc but couldn’t get to him without revealing truth about father so he drowned himself in drugs. So when after many years they started to get closer again and Sherlock found out that Mycroft knew he asked - why you didn’t protect me? And Mycroft would just take off his shirt and will reveal scars which stays after few hits reached him. And Sherlock will understand and they’ll work it out. And Mycroft would be afraid to go any further because he doesn’t want to be as father, but he never will be. (the end)

enny: Very nice! I haven’t had headcaonons here in a while :) I thought about this possibility, too, a lot, actually. As you might know the canon of this blog includes a quite cruel and distant Mr. Holmes senior. I did decide against rape in their story here, though. Firstly, because I feel highly uncomfortable with it. And secondly, of course, because same as you I don’t see any chance for them getting the kind of relationship I describe here if it had happened this way. I think it’s very interesting that we have this assumptions considering the canon in the series. Of course, when I created this blog I had to make something up, because we had no background information on them. I was very positively surprised by Mr. and Mrs. Holmes in the series afterwards. Because that gave a completely different view on their relationship - but that’s probably for another time to discuss. Thanks a lot for this! <3

enny: alright that sounds better indeed :D I have nothing to add. Except maybe a little flashback to the Christmas Eve three years ago (in "A Scandal in Belgravia" I'm not totally sure about the three years though) when Mycroft was telling Sherlock that "caring is not an advantage". I always loved this scene most since the first thing we (as the audience) got to know about him was that he's caring for his brother. He loves Sherlock - he cares so much - although it is one of the biggest disadvantages. So if one lays it out in this context he's actually admitting his weakness. Even though he isn't saying it as clear as in "His last Vow" Sherlock reacts similar. He doesn't know how to deal with the sentiments and so he's changing the subject to something much more flat ("this is low tar"). And same as in "His last Vow" Mycroft is kind of using Christmas as his excuse for being sentimental.

enny: yes, I know! I'm feeling exactly the same. And I was so absolutely seeing them dancing together! Like how cute would that be? I want to pretend that Mycroft teached Sherlock to dance which is the reason why he loves it that much (it's obvious that Mycroft teached Sherlock how to deduce and one can't deny that it is his biggest passion). Also Mycroft beeing the last distance his mind is turning to when Sherlock doesn't know how to go on. Mycroft as his teacher and the only one he would always look up to (because everyone else - even Irene and John were on the same level as Sherlock only looking at the room). On the other side of course it can be interpreted as Sherlock seeing Mycroft as someone who's not really reachable (which almost made me cry - I'm really thinking too much)...Headcanon that Sherlock went back to Baker Street and Mycroft was already waiting there.

enny: oh god yes, the whole torture scene, like have you seen the way M is sitting there all crossed legs and so absolutely enjoying himself? and then Sherlock asks for John what clearly doesn't pleas Mycroft at all. and Mycroft just knew the exact moment when Sherlock will ask for his coat and - as you said - the fact that Sherlock actually gets dressed and shaved and probably also styled in Mycroft's office...like there are many more comfortable and even more logical places to choose for that, but they stay together as though having each other around is just what they somehow need after all this time (kinda a vague theory, I admit).

enny: totally agree. also he seems a little bit jealous, too, doesn't he? since he's so very focused on finding out whether Mycroft found someone else while he was away. but it simply is so cute that he tries to talk Mycroft into being more social, to make some friends - because he himself does have friends now and he wants Mycroft to feel the same way of comfort he does.

enny: IT IS! and than Mrs Hudson saying that actually they're both pleased too see each other and THE DAMN WAY SHERLOCK LOOKS UP AT MYCROFT AFTER THIS.
