sebastian should have known better than to try and sneak out on these two; he made a mental note to be gone before daylight next time. if there were to be a next time. it would have been easier than this, fending off lucian's charm and sΔnee's warm hospitality was an impossible feat. the immediate comfort he felt from being in their company was overwhelming to the point where sebastian was certain the other shoe would drop at any minute.
of course, sΔnne's good-hearted joke passed over his head. he looked over the tupperwear in his hands, carrying the breakfast he tried to get out of staying for. tempered glass with a very secure lid and could probably last much longer than the cheap takeaway ones he reused until they'd fall apart.
"...i mean, if you'd rather i didn't take it, i can leave this here..." sebastian offered in his usual mumble, not wanting to get himself into some kind of arrangement where he would need to figure out how to return it. "well, no - not tonight but uh..." he found himself caught out almost, he didn't want to lie to them but he also couldn't bring himself to move away from the door. "...but i have things to do to, prep - like planning, weather checking and things like that..."
lucian studied the other man as he spoke - the way sebastian's eyes would dart between sΔnee and back to him again, how he was poised to make a run for it should they move any closer, and also how he held onto the doorknob as if it was the only thing anchoring him to the spot where he stood. it was clear to lucian that sebastian would rather remove himself from this space before one could accuse him of occupying too much of it, something he would discuss with sΔnee at length in his absence.
"what sΔnee is trying to say, sebastian, is that we would really like it if you could join us for breakfast. it would even save you the trouble of having to return the container if you just eat it here instead." lucian was like a dog with a bone when it came to people; once he felt drawn to them, that was it. but he was patient, understanding and attentive - ready to adapt his approach to what ever format sebastian would respond positively to. "isn't that right, love?" he turned to sΔnee.
lucian frowned at sebastian's explanation of his work commitments, his features briefly betraying his feeling of disappointment. "well, we wouldn't want to get in the way of your work. perhaps you could come back for dinner, again? or we could join you?"
