"I know who your father is, Luke."
Luke's jaw tightened and he swallowed as he regarded Boba, breath coming shallow as he tried to figure out how he was going to explain to Din that he had killed the man he considered a brother. Din would understand, that knowledge had been kept secret for a reason - to protect both Luke and Leia. Even if few knew of the twins' relation, even a breath of their true parentage would cause an upset in the Senate - and that was to say nothing of the detriment it could do to his own title as Jedi.
"He was there the day my father died— your mother was with him. Quite a pair those two," Boba's voice was distant, barely there over the ringing in Luke's ears, "Anakin was quite the Jedi, and she wasn't a bad fighter herself. From what I remember anyway."
Luke's heart skipped a beat, "you knew my mother?"
"Not really, my father was supposed to assassinate her - long story... Which I suppose we have time for, if you're interested?" Fett turned to him with a raised brow. He looked so different beneath the armor, the sarlacc and years with the Tuskan Raiders had weathered him, Luke tried to imagine what he might have looked like before they had met at Bespin.
Luke nodded.
"Alright then, I was quite young then - and my father did his best to shield me from his work, so this is my understanding of the events anyway -" Fett talked more than the other Mandalorians, Luke thought suddenly, or at least he talked to Luke more than the others did. He wasn't like any of the retired clones Luke had met either, and he felt a little guilty about making the comparison.
"So the Trade Federation—" Fett started, giving a short history similar to what Leia had tried to teach him, "and they hired my father to assassinate the senator, your mom. It didn't work out because your father stopped him, there was some sort of epic speeder chase across Coresant..."
