Okay, but I truly believe that sex work is okay. Sex work done in safe, positive and consensual terms is good, it’s great. Don’t shame women and men who are in that business, instead we should support them.
We should create a system that makes them feel safe and protected.
Prostitution is bad in countries where it is illegal. By making it illegal it takes away the safety and protection that someone in that business might need.
The only reason pimps are hired is because of the lack of protection. Those pimps misuse their power, and due to the lack of regulation of sex workers often encounter unsafe practices, like sex trafficking or predation of younger girls. When sex work is illegal sex workers who are in danger or at threat are not likely to reach out to the police because they will be arrested or criminalised even if they may be the victims. Instead of working with the police, they have to hide from them, and therefore lack that protection from insane and violent customers and pimps.
Sex work should not be shamed. Just as you sell your body through labour, they are doing there’s through sex work. If you shame people for a job that have decided to join happily then youre the problem. Without stigmatisation sex workers will be able to work in a happy environment, and be able to freely move in and out of the business as they like.
It’s 2020, everyone should have the right to decide what to do with their bodies. Make sex work legal everywhere for regulated, safe and protected sex working practices.
