#decade art

Got tagged by @lesly-oh​ for the decade art meme 

2010 simultaneously feels like it was a lifetime ago, and also so very recent. It’s really amazing looking back and seeing my work and practice have paid off! I’m so excited to see where I’ll be another 10 years in the future.

I also wanna say a HUGE thank you to all of you—those who’ve been following me for years and have watched me grow, and those who are new here and will hopefully stick around to see where the next decade takes us! You are all amazing and you motivate me to keep making things and to keep improving!

I’ll start off by saying I haven’t exactly kept my art stored very well (as I was literally 7 when this decade started) so the earliest I can find of when I consciously began to consider myself an “artist” is from 2015... and dear lord it pains me to look at but for the sake of record keeping, it’s here.

2015

Oh my god.... at the time I was 12 so I’d say this is alright but knowing me I was also heavily referencing a “how to draw manga” book I borrowed from a friend and I don’t know if that makes it worse

2016

This was made for an inktober challenge I think? I was starting to have a basic understanding of cross-hatching and shadow and I was so proud of my “real” art pens (I had yet to learn that the best traditional drawing tool is none other than a standard mechanical pencil)

2017

Digital drawing! Finally! I was so determined to draw digitally, in the ever lasting pursuit of being a ““real”” artist I taught myself to draw digitally on an app on my phone. Also how do light and reflections work?

Another thing that happened in 2017 was I ran one of those “Pokémon ask blogs” that gained roughly 200 followers (it was a big deal for me at the time)... and double that in asks, i think it was good practice for my to draw the same character over and over like that, even if I was stressed (why I decided I needed to answer every ask I beyond me)

Early-Mid 2018

Colors are a thing! Reflection and light are a thing! For! Some! Reason! I’m! Still! Doing! All! My! Art! On! Mobile! (Also the first image is a redraw of the 2017 one!)

Late 2018 (December)

I finally obtained a laptop and tablet pen and was thrown into yet another style of digital drawing! (Also still drawing dragons)
