Listening to this music shows respect for the roots and keeps the culture alive. You don’t need to be a walking goth encyclopedia—but knowing where it started matters if you’re repping the movement.

The Prime Minister of Thailand, Traipop Raknaitham, fears a repeat of the tsunami that devastated the country in 2004. He sets up a national alarm centre for predicting and detecting earthquakes out at sea, headed by its director Doctor Siam.

The project is criticised by the Prime Minister’s main opponent, who wishes to take the office of Prime Minister for himself. Publicly, he blames the project for its habit of ordering evacuations out of an abundance of caution, even when there is no real danger of a tsunami. Privately, he opposes the project because it threatens a tourist island resort operated by his son.
