I have literally read this book eighteen times all the way through and a further hundred or so times where I just skimmed the bits that I loved. This bitchin' book was steampunk before most kids even knew what steampunk was.
I just regret that it was meant to be part of a trilogy and only the first book was ever written. *sobs*

Why is this classified as a children's novel? LOL. If I recall properly (It's been about 2 years since I read it last) but there's a fuckload of gruesome deaths and political messages in this book. Plus the actual name "Deathscent" is about how the visitor used to basically kill everything and trade blood because it was considered a delicacy to his people. A horse goes insane after being poisoned and stomps a man's body in. It goes on lol.
