Word guessing game: strill
strill
The strill follows her, slouching low to the ground and whipping its tail across the floor, a musky stench wafting after it.
Mird my beloved. I love that stinky drooling critter so much. I should write about it far more often. Thanks for the ask!!
Words for you: dark, blanket, ocean/sea, close, speak, closet, hold, hang, and dog :)
dark
A hazy, dark memory that John only remembers as horrifyingly painful.
blanket
His arms had escaped the soft blanket Sam had brought them, fingers balled in tight fists as he swung them around in a blind rage.
ocean/sea
"Then I shall take you to the Csurdon sea where you may tell me if it is at all like the ocean of your homeworld.". (HOW DID I GET BOTH SEA AND OCEAN IN ONE SENTENCE!?!!!?)
close
She turns into him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and pulling him close.
speak
Alas, I've got nothing for this one.
closet
Nothing for this one either, I'm afraid.
hold
Today, Marcus Fenix hoped to never remember what it was like to hold his son.
hang
She hangs on the handle, leaning precariously toward the open doorway.
dog
Samantha was laughing so hard she couldn't get a grip on the dog's collar and ended up having to step over him and push the animal away.
Turns out I've got some great ideas roving around in my wips/notes. Alas still no true motivation to write yet but it was nice to go through and realize I'm not as terrible a writer as I'd been feeling as of late. Lol Thanks for the ask!
Sev (the Sev brainrot is real) + 12 for the homemade prompt list? I'm leaning towards post-Kashyyyk but go for whichever era strikes your fancy!
We ended up on Kashyyyk... And it turned kind of sad. This is a scene that would fit into my Rep Comm AU, though it would probably never make the cut in an attempt to keep up the "what happened to Sev" question. Despite the fact we all know he survives and lives and gets to go home and be safe. I almost turned it into a dream but I couldn't quite connect it so I leave it to your imagination that this was just a memory embellished by exhaustion and he's safe in bed, in a house with his brothers, Vau, Jaing, and (in the case of my AU) my girl Meerja. He's all fine now.
The air cracks and burns. A stinging heat that fills his lungs and makes his eyes water. Sparks bounce against his chest leaving dark smears against the filthy katarn.
The world around him, is on fire.
Trees splinter and crack, flames licking at their branches. Sheets of metal lie in haphazard piles, a gust of hot air and sparks sends one toppling over. Sey ducks, throwing his arms over his head as the glowing metal burns through the thick vegetation beneath it. His vision swims, the heat and acrid smoke making it hard to see. The air smells of burning forest, electrical fires, and the stench of burning flesh. He coughs and spits, a wad of red spit hitting the ground below him. He tastes copper and he spits again. More blood. He turns away, deeming that to be the least of his troubles right now. The Sep cruiser had fallen, Delta's efforts coupled with Vos's attack had done the job and while the burning cruiser had taken care of his droid problem, it had presented a much larger problem. Namely the raging forest fire around him.
He stands. Or tries too. His knee buckles and pain shoots through his calf. He doesn't want to look and decides it may be best if he doesn't. He can drag the leg. At least until he's out of the immediate area. His helmet is gone. He can't see it nearby and that worries him more than his increasingly painful knee. The helmet has his map with Delta's designated RV points and, possibly, working comms. A tree snaps nearby and the rush of hot air as it falls has him ducking to the ground again.
"Feirfek." He mutters. His voice feels loud despite the roaring fire and suddenly he realizes how alone he is. It feels strange. He's used to being alone. Spending days, weeks even, alone in a hole scraped in the ground, stewing in his own excrement as he waits for the right shot. But even then he's always had Scorch humming in his ear, laid up in his own hole nearby, spotting for him. Even Boss calling for status reports or Fixer sending him silent messages on his HUD. He's never been alone before.
"Nearest RV is Kresh." He tells himself. Anyone else could have imagined it was a squadmate talking but his own voice is too low, too deep, too damaged. He shrugs off that thought and wobbles to his feet. If he doesn't look down and if he ignores the pain - but shab that hurts- he can hobble along at a decent pace. He doesn't want to think about what he'll do if he has to climb or if the pain gets worse but for now he heads in what he hopes is the direction of RV point Kresh. Delta will be there and once he finds someone with comms they can call for medevac, And then he can address the growing pain in his knee. He dodges another falling branch, turning his face away from the unbearable heat.
"Get to the RV point." He tells himself. "They'll be there."
They aren't. And he doesn't understand why.
I loved your response!
But I got another question, how will the bad batch crew interact with clan skirata? Because knowing Kal and how he is with clone deserters, I feel like both of them are bound to meet at some point.
And if they do, how will the interaction go? How will Kal react to seeing an unaltered female jango clone? How does the batch feel about an ex-imperial like scorch being around? There’s so many things I wanna ask but I don’t want to be overbearing 😅
Honestly I hadn't thought much about it. Once shit hits the fan and everyone breaks apart I'll personally be focusing heavily on Delta Squad and where they end up simply because they're my favorites so what Skirata himself does and how the clan operates and continues the underground railroad operation will be very compartmentalized. I plan on having the Nulls handle almost, if not all of the coordination between the smaller broken up groups. But there will have to be mention and talk about the Batch at least a bit since Scorch will likely be coming home fresh off of the hunt for them.
I think Skirata would definitely try to hunt them down after hearing about them. If nothing else then to offer his help in hiding them. Especially once he learns about Omega. But I don't think he'd be extremely adamant about it. Skirata isn't dumb. His bleeding heart is both his weakness and his strength but in most cases his head wins out. He would realize that the Batch probably doesn't really want to be found, and since they're already out of the Empire's grasp the most he can offer them is an allowance and backup should they need it. Huge helps but the more attention brought to them the more dangerous for everyone involved. Especially since the Empire is actively hunting for Omega.
I do ascribe to the headcanon that the Batch are technically Commandos. Bred differently but I imagine they did a sort of co-op training regime with the rest of the Commandos. So they've probably already met if not definitely heard about Skirata while on Kamino. Trust of course would be another matter. Hunter isn't dumb. He's smart and he's gotten very cautious as he's been on the run and had the responsibility of a child who can't always take care of herself. Who's to say Skirata and his clan aren't undercover agents still loyal to the Empire? How can he know? How can he be sure? He really can't. He has to put the safety of his squad first and so the fact of the matter is that he may have to pass up Skirata's offer. I don't think Skirata would be offended either. I think he'd be disappointed and he'd offer the Batch a way to contact him should they change their mind. But at least until Omega is safe from the Empire Hunter is going to remain overtly cautious and stay as far away from the unknown as he can.
Now, saying the time comes that they do interact with the Skirata clan. I think upon seeing and interacting with Omega Skirata would go through his usual five stages of emotional outburst. Anger, love, fear, guilt, and devotion. He'd be angry as hell that the Kaminoans kept her and probably experimented on her. He'd be angry he didn't know she was there and that he didn't save her when he had a chance. He'd love her. A whole new daughter to try and adopt?! I think that would cause some tension between he and Hunter at first. To Skirata the clones themselves are still just kids and it would be difficult for him to accept that Omega is the Batch's responsibility and not his, but I do think he'd come around. He would then be terrified of letting her go. The Empire is hunting her, it's not a safe world for a little girl out there. And why is the Empire looking for her? How dangerous is she? To the galaxy? To the clones? To herself? There would be an entire investigation into it. Would probably be great for the Batch. Tech is good but no one can deny the Nulls are a billion times better. They'd have the mystery of Omega figured out in no time. As for his guilt I think Skirata would actually direct his guilt more towards Boba. Who's watching over him? If Omega is safe with the Batch, is Boba ok? Is he safe? Does he have someone looking after him? Skirata would be racked with guilt over not helping Omega back on Kamino and not helping Boba now that his Dad is gone. And then of course he would jump into dedicating anything he has to Omega's safety. Batch need some money to keep the ship fueled? Here's a credit chip, it'll never run out. Need some ship repairs? No big deal, the kitchen is open while you're waiting for it to be fixed. Whatever they would need he would scramble to provide.
The Nulls would probably be thrilled to have Omega as their sister and would promptly have Hunter ripping his hair out in an attempt to not have her romping around with the craziest of all the clones. They'd also of course take a few samples of her DNA for their anti-aging project. Omega would obviously be more than happy to provide. I think Echo would be hesitant at first but he'd come around quickly after Jaing gives him a sideways glance.
Now, imagining Delta are around I think things would be pretty uncomfortable at first. I'm kind of waiting and holding out to see where Scorch is during season 3 of Bad Batch before I set anything in stone but there is definitely going to be a bit of bad blood there. I think the best bridge between the two squads would end up being Omega and Sev incidentally. Omega has a bleeding heart and I really think she'd like Sev. He's broken and angry, much like Crosshair, and Omega's compassion and innocence is just enough on this side of genuine that I think by the time they met, Sev might be receptive to it. He's the only Delta that would have never worked for the Empire so the Batch would be slightly more relaxed about him. I think given some time the Batch and Delta would relax. Maybe they'd never exactly get along but I think if push came to shove they'd be able to learn to trust each other.
You can always always ask whatever you want!! I enjoy talking about it and hashing things out! It helps speed up the research and logistics which frees up time in the long run to just write.

Kad had greatly enjoyed helping his ba'vodu with the testing phase and even Sev had grinned a little when the boy toddled around with the helmet wobbling on his head, babbling nonsense into the voice emitter.
Kad is a great project manager. And even Sev isn't immune to watching a toddler having fun.
