Feeling he'd sufficiently recovered, Niles got himself a fresh pair of clothes and left his bedroom. He turned the corner of the hallway and collided with the edge of a table.
"Mother of-" he cursed under his breath.
He looked down at it, feeling four dark patches matching the shape of the table's feet a few inches away from where it now stood. Odd, but he could've easily knocked it the night before.
Turning into the library, he noticed a light emitting from the mirror by the rotunda shelves. That wasn't normal. Scratching his head, he stood in front of it and noticed a silhouette. It wasn't his reflection that's for sure. The arms were beefier, and the hair was tousled differently. Niles stepped closer, as did the figure in front of him, though their movements were independent of each other. On closer inspection, he saw that the other wore a loose choker of some kind, as well as dated clothing that looked as if he pulled them from a medieval museum.
The figure stepped right up to Niles, passing through the bounds of the mirror. Niles fell backwards pulling out a knife and a small spray bottle of holy water. He sprayed the figure who just raised an eyebrow at him in response.
"My name is Andrew... where is this?" He questioned.
"This is my bunker, where did you come from?" Niles demanded.
Wincing, Andrew offered Niles his hand.
"Sadeht," he answered. "Your name?"
Niles stood up cautiously on his own. "Niles."
"Well Niles, I don't know that I can return home, but I will test it soon," he explained. "Do you mind if I explore?"
"Do I-, do I mind if you traipse about my home?" Niles barked, brandishing the knife in Andrew's direction.
Andrew simply laughed.
"Nice butter knife, do you mind showing me around then?"
Reluctantly, Niles put the knife and holy water away, nodding.
"Fine, but I'm not letting you out of my sight," he insisted.

CW serious body horror, sharp objects being THROWN, meta
Niles strode down the hallway, passing a number of rooms. He noticed John and Sam’s door was open, a faint golden glow emitting from the room. Looking in, he saw the two sat opposite each other on the edges of their beds. Between them was a pixelated four-point star, rotating clockwise. Sam looked over at Niles, giving a nod of acknowledgement.
“What’s that?” Grunted Niles.
“A save star,” John answered.
Niles took a step closer to is, squinting at it.
“It’s like a game checkpoint,” Sam mentioned. “I can’t use it though.”
“Yeah, I use it before I do anything major,” John chuckled. “So if I mess up, or someone else does, I can go back and fix it.”
“Go back huh?” Niles posed.
“I’ve got a friend back home who can do something similar,” said Sam.
Niles stood beside the star, leaning side to side to see the reverse, but wherever his vision landed, it followed. He touched it, waiting for something to happen. John frowned.
“I guess you can’t use it either,” he mentioned.
Sam watched Niles shrug, before his hands started glitching to his left, feet turning various reds, greens and blues in a violent flash. The two watched and waited as he grunted and groaned in pain. After a moment it stopped outright. Sam sighed and lay down.
“Is there anything we can do to help with that?” John asked.
Sam shrugged.
“Any way you can control it?” Niles continued.
“I don’t know, but they tend to calm down when I sleep.”
Niles paced about, eyes trained on Sam as he thought to himself. Perhaps he needed some kind of training, but what would that be?
“Why don’t we go take a walk around the lake,” he started. “It won’t stop it obviously, but we can try a few things while we’re out there.”
Sam frowned, sitting back up.
“I guess.”
He glanced over at John, then down at the star. John reached for the star, a black panel floating beneath his hand. His finger pressed down on an option. An 8-bit tone played as the panel disappeared from view.
“Saved?” Niles posed.
John nodded.
Shrugging, Niles stood back in the doorway and watched as Sam slowly followed, picking up a pair of shoes on the way out. He led the way to the main door, grabbing a bag on the way to the door.
They exited the bunker and headed down to the lake. A chill blew over them, the water rippling softly from the breeze. Niles brought Sam around the edge of the water until the bunker and his beat up old VW Beetle were barely visible.
He stopped by a large rock and set the bag down on it.
“So,” started Niles. “How much control have you over the glitches?”
Sam sighed, sitting on another rock. “Basically no controooooooool. Including the voice ones.”
Wincing, Niles leaned against the rock his bag was on. Surely there was something. Bending over, he picked up a stone.
“You ever try?” He asked.
“Good point.”
“Think fast!” Niles threw the stone at Sam.
A glitchy mess teleported Sam out of the way. returning him once the stone hit the ground. He looked up at Niles with wide eyes.
“I did it!” Sam exclaimed.
Niles smirked, turning to his bag. He pulled a few items out. Sam craned his neck to see, catching sight of a spiked ball and a knife. He gulped.
“Now Sam,” Niles breathed, turning to him with a number of sharp objects in his hands. “Think you can do it again?”
Sam took a step back, hands up in front of him.
“Niles wait...”
He didn’t catch what Sam said, throwing a knife at him. Sam caught it in his rib cage. He coughed as an explosive glitch coursed through his whole body. Before Niles had time to react, the glitch had warped Sam partially into his own body, mixing the two together.
They cried out as they merged into one freakish body, some things hanging outside the body that belonged inside. In searing pain, the only thing they could think to do was to return to the bunker.
The sun was starting to set by the time they reached the driveway. John stood outside, hands fidgeting together as he bit his lip. He turned his gaze to their grotesque figure, a palm rushing to his mouth as he gasped out. Tears began to stream down John’s face as he screamed. They let out a pained grunt, an arm reaching toward him. John pulled the star out, the black panel appearing before him. They saw him hit a button that read DAOL from their side, before everything faded away.
“Saved?” Niles posed.
John burst into tears. “Don’t go outside!”
Sam fell backwards, shielding himself. Niles jumped, raising his eyebrows.
“Don’t do it,” John begged. “Please!”
