There was some sort of foresight, an inkling the sleuth had that the very situation would happen one day. There was no doubt about it-- in a criminal’s eyes, when one effectively solved crimes they had to be eliminated. With his name plastered on nearly every newspaper, the ever popular deerstalker photograph beside it followed by columns of adoring text ( only in the public eye were the police officers ever so grateful ), someone would dare to mess with the consulting detective.
A breath was drawn in carefully, Sherlock’s pale eyes falling on the woman beside him and his hand dipping subtly into the hollow of his Belstaff’s pocket, feeling for the metal of a gun. “Selina-- not now, not here. Don’t use them, you’ll get shot.”
