Chapter 8
My Wife: Giganta
A DC Supervillain Romance Story
<<< Previous Chapter
<<< First Chapter
Batmanās gaze flickered toward her movement.
"Donātā"
Doris pulled the trigger.
The second the serum hit her bloodstream, her body shuddered.
I saw her pupils dilate, her body tensing like a coil ready to spring.
Her breathing deepened, her fingers twitching as the familiar, uncontrollable heat spread through her veins.
I pulled my pistol at Batman and fired.
BANGāBANGāBANG!
Batman moved effortlessly, twisting sideways, and counter attacking by throwing his batarang at my hand.
I had to drop my weapon immediately to avoid getting my firearm sliced in half.
Behind me, Doris groaned.
"Nnghh⦠Oh, hell yesā¦ā
Her coat tightened around her shoulders, her spine arching as her body began to expand.
She clutched her stomach, panting as her muscles flexed, her frame stretching taller with each passing second.
Her glasses slid off, hitting the floor.
"Freddieāohhā" she gasped, her voice thick with pleasure as the heat overtook her.
I gritted my teeth, reaching for my second gun for a quickdraw shot as Batman closed the gap.
BLAM!
He moved his head to the side, just milliseconds before the bullet could land a headshot. He sent a brutal elbow into my ribs.
I staggered back, pain flaring through my side.
"Youāre smart, Garfield," Batman said, his voice calm, controlled, "but this is the wrong fight."
I wiped blood from my mouth, sneering. "Yeah? Then why are you sweating?"
He wasnāt, but it bought me a second.
I went in fast, aiming for his ribs, but he parried, twisting my arm and driving his knee into my stomach.
CRACKā
I barely kept myself standing.
I barely had time to react before his fist slammed into my ribs, knocking the wind out of me.
"You donāt have to do this," he growled, twisting my arm, forcing my second gun to clatter to the floor.
"Like hell I donāt," I gasped, using my free hand to slam my elbow into his sternum.
He didnāt even flinch. But I found an opening to squirm my way free using all my weight and scrambled away from him. I found myself leading him into one of the smaller laboratories from the hallway.
I looked back at him and picked up a scalpel from a nearby desk.
I didnāt have to beat him. I just had to buy enough time for Giganta to emerge.
Batman and I came face to face once again, circling each other in the lab.
Batman didnāt hesitateā
He pulled a smoke bomb from his belt, activated it between his fingers, and threw it right at my feet. Within a second, the room filled with thick, suffocating fog.
But I was ready for that.
I held the respirator mask over my face, the filters kicking in as I swung around backing towards the wall behind meāthen, the scalpel snagged into something.
And snapped against Batman's gauntlets.
His silhouette moved like a phantom, he tackled meāslamming me into the wall.
"You were a profiler, Garfield," he muttered. "You should know you canāt beat me."
"Not trying to beat you," I wheezed, "just buying her time."
As if on cueā
A loud ripppp echoed through the hallway. The smoke cleared up in the room.
Doris stood at the doorway behind him, her head already reaching the top of the doorās frame.
Her bun unraveled, fiery red strands bursting free, cascading down into a wild, flowing ponytail.
Doris let out a shaky breath.
I barely registered it at first, but thenā
A deep, guttural moan escaped her lips.
"Nnghh⦠oh, thatās goodā¦"
Her fingers trembled, gripping the edges of the frame as her entire body pulsed outward.
She splintered the woodwork in her grasp.
Dorisā green eyes flashed, her pupils wide with shock as the waves of expansion rippled through her.
āPebbleā¦!" she panted, her voice already thick with pleasure, trying to stay in control. "Hold on, I'mānghā¦"
Batman moved in again, using my distraction against me.
I barely dodged his punch, feeling the air shift as his fist grazed past my temple and smashed the wall behind me.
I retaliated, throwing a wild punchā
He caught it mid-air and twisted my wrist.
"Damn itā" I grunted in pain.
And thenā
POPā
The last button from Dorisās shirt flew off, hitting the ground.
Her frame surged outward, straining against her clothes, her breath hitching as another wave of growth hit her hard.
"Freddieāoh, Godā"
Batmanās focus flickered, glancing at her, I saw his hand prepare to use his taser wire on herā
That opening was what I needed.
I ripped my arm free, reaching for a beaker beside me and smashed it on his head which stunned him.
CRASH!
Glass shards cut through his exposed cheek.
Just as Doris let out a soft, audible gasp.
Her shoes tore open, the leather splitting apart as her feet swelled, her toes pressing against the cold tiles.
Her coat sleeves stretched painfully before finally snapping at the seams, exposing her bare, arms expanding with layers and layers of powerful muscle.
Her hips thickened, the fabric of her skirt groaning under the strain of her burgeoning thighs beforeā
RIIIIIIP.
They shredded apart, leaving only the smooth, form-fitting pink leotard beneath.
She let out another low, breathy moan, as she struggled to balance herself as her breasts surged forward adding one cup size after another, bouncing heavily as they strained against the fabric.
Her transformation was nearly complete.
I ran towards her, but Batman recovered quickly. He was not holding back anymore.
He grabbed me by the collar as I passed him and sent a hard strike to my chest, knocking me back.
"Donāt get up," he ordered.
I coughed, trying to regain my footingā
Then the building shook.
Batmanās expression darkened.
He turned just as the walls cracked around us.
Doris had grown too big. Big enough.
Batman turnedājust in time to see her growth accelerate.
Her upper body filled the lab we were in, while her legs expanded in the hallway behind her.
She looked down at us, her breasts pushed her shoulders up which were already grazing the ceiling and sending dust and debris raining down.
"Stand down, youāll bring the whole building down on us!" he snapped.
"No shit!" I shot back, ducking as a piece of the ceiling collapsed from the pressure of her expanding frame.
Dust filled my lungs, but I saw that the debris fell between me and the Caped Crusader.
Adrenaline was pumping in my system. I can barely move from what thrashing Batman gave me. But I knew I had to move.
Dorisās head smashed through the lights, her red ponytail whipping as she instinctively threw her arms out and pushed the walls outward.
āEverything is so⦠SMALL. This whole place is too small!ā
The walls buckled, crumbling under her sheer size.
Dorisā no, Giganta, let out a spine chilling laugh as she grew in scale and power.
Her hips and ass swelled, smashing through another section of the hallway, sending debris cascading in all directions.
The door frame which was trying its best to keep Giganta stuck was losing its battle. Cracks on the wall branched out from around her abdomen.
But then she snapped back to focus for a second after seeing me almost get crushed by a falling pipe.
"Move, Freddie, hide under me!"
She gasped, her body vibrating as her transformation reached its peak.
But Batman wasnāt done yet.
He whipped out a grappling hook, firing it toward the collapsing ceiling beams, swinging directly toward her face.
"Thatās cute."
She purredāthen swatted him away like an insect.
He braced himself and crashed through a glass panel, disappearing into the wreckage.
"Giganta!" I yelled. "Careful!"
"He was gonna kill you!ā
She snapped, her voice still thick with adrenaline and pleasure.
She grabbed me gently, cradling me against her heaving breasts, shielding me from falling debris as her massive body continued to expand.
"H-holy hell, this feelsā"
Another wave hit her, her thighs thickening, her leotard stretching dangerously tight over her curves.
Her hips spread wider, her shoulders filling up the corridor entirely.
We needed to moveāNOW.
"Honey, focus!" I shouted. "You need to squeeze throughāget to the lab!"
She gritted her teeth, her muscles flexing, her body shifting and smashing through walls as she forced her way forward.
She twisted her massive frame, demolishing the walls of the ruined lab around us and forcing her way through the narrowing corridors.
"Almost thereā¦"
The Wayne Biotech lab was caving in around us.
She had grown so big that she had to resort to crawling through the hallways, and even then her every movement sent her breasts and hips smashing through the structure, demolishing entire rooms in her path.
BOOM.
The reinforced steel bulkhead tore like paper as she forced her way into the Venom research wingāfinally breaking into the main lab.
The 30-ft. ceiling was high enough that Doris was able to sit down in the room to fit inside.
"Weāre in!"
She lowered me to the floor, letting me sprint toward the secured TN-1 Venom sampleā
But before I could even consider how to open the case without damaging it-
Batman emerged from collapsing halls behind us, debris falling down to seal the exit behind him.
Wayne Biotech security forces swarmed in from the catwalks above us, guns raised.
"FREEZE!"
āWait, no!ā cried Batman at the guards, adamant that firearms are definitely not the solution to the current predicament.
But the sight of a giant woman destroying the room spooked them.
They opened fire.
Doris gritted her teeth as bullets rained down on her, pinging against her skin. Their shots didn't penetrate, but left visible bruises across her body.
"Ahhhādamn it, that stings!"
She hissed, blocking the shots with her arm.
"Youāre not leaving with that," Batman warned. Running towards me while Giganta was suppressed by the volley of gunfire.
"No!" I yelled.
Giganta grunted, stomping her massive foot between me and Batman while she remained seated, stopping him right in his tracks.
"Oh, Pebble,"
She cooed, looking at me with a wink.
"I got this."
She reached up and swiped the guards from the scaffold. They dropped their weapons and hung for dear life.
With the guards occupied, she turned her attention to the Batman.
Behind me, Giganta and Batman clashed, the remains of the Venom lab crumbling around them.
I pulled the lever to reduce the pressure in the locked containment unit
Batman moved fast, throwing magnetized charges toward her exposed leg, aiming for her pressure points.
A regular person of Giganta's size wouldāve collapsed from a seizure with the impact on the nerves where his explosions landed.
"Cāmon, Bats. You really thinkā"
She was cut mid-sentence as her legs felt numb and she collapsed on one leg to the floor.
CRASH.
Batman spared no time, he yanked a baton from his belt, electrified it, and slammed it against her with a non-stop flurry of strikes.
Even at 50 feet tall, she still struggled against his gadgets, his tactics, his precision strikes.
But she wasnāt letting him win.
"You should have stayed down,"
She growled, swinging a massive fist.
Batman dodged, using a grapple to latch onto her arm and climb upā
"Freddie, HURRY!"
I successfully picked the heavy padlock that held the storage unit secure and the cabinet swung open.
I grabbed the canister with the TN-1 Venom, securing it in my bag.
"Got it!"
"Then weāre done here,"
Giganta purred, she snatched me, holding me tight against her chest, keeping me safe in her cleavage as she continued to grow to her full height of 75 feet.
āI just had enough of this place! I can already feel blood circulating back to my leg.ā
Thenā
She shoved upward and broke through the ceiling which was only a third as high as her full size.
"Letās see how much Wayne Tech likes remodeling,"
She mused.
Gigantaās body broke through empty offices, laboratories, storage rooms, test areas with reckless abandon and punched her way through the last remaining walls, smashing through concrete and steelā
I clung to her, my heart pounding, the sheer force of her expansion shaking the entire building.
Finally breaking free into the open night.
I hung on to dear life at the Dekapende polymer tightly stretched around her breasts as her massive mammaries swung with much heft as she balanced her stance after demolishing half of the Wayne Biotech building behind us.
Snipers and turrets tried to shoot her down from the vantage points of the crumbling building to no avail.
I looked behind to see Batman standing in the room we were in. His finger was pointed to his ear.
"Justice League, this is Batman," his voice crackled over the comms. "Giganta is on the move. I need backupānow."
Giganta shot me a worried look, shaking debris from her hair.
We were in the open.
And the League was coming.

Chapter 7
My Wife: Giganta
A DC Supervillain Romance Story
<<< Previous Chapter
<<< First Chapter
Two weeks of planning.
Two weeks of preparing.
Two weeks of watching Doris ration her serum in the Shady Shack like a dying woman saving her last breath.
I had spent those two weeks gathering everything we needed.
...
Finally.
I've exhausted most of my contacts and savings, but we were ready.
Our apartment was cozy, but I kept it dimly lit to prevent any wandering glances from seeing the sprawl of suspicious objects that lay before me.
A single hanging lamp casted a soft glow over the cluttered table before me:
Boxes of ammunition, stacks of blueprints, and pieces of equipment were spread across the surface, each item carefully arranged for tomorrowās heist at Wayne Biotech.
I sat on the couch, my vest unbuttoned, rolling a handgun magazine between my fingers, double-checking each round before loading it into my weapon.
Across from me, Doris stood in front of the full-length mirror, pulling the straps of her new leotard over her shoulders, adjusting the fit.
She twisted slightly, checking herself from different angles, testing how the material stretched with her movements.
It was a custom-made one-shoulder, high-cut leotard, rose pink with black accents, built from Dekapende polymer, a rare material that could stretch up to 15 times its size, stretch alongside her growthāat least up to 75 feet.
Anything beyond that?
Well⦠we'd cross that bridge when we got there.
"Feels good?" I asked, clicking my magazine into place, checking to see if the safety was on, and setting my pistol aside.
Doris glanced over her shoulder, a small smirk playing on her lips.
"Better than a bra, thatās for damn sure."
I chuckled. "That bad?"
She turned to face me fully, placing her hands on her hips, her loose, red hair swaying as she cocked her head.
"Honey, you have no idea." she sighed, dramatically rolling her shoulders. "Theyāre already uncomfortable when Iām small. But when I grow?"
She gestured toward her chest, her fingers gesturing at a larger pair of orbs in front of the curved swell of her breasts.
"Imagine wearing something that suddenly starts squeezing the life out of you because your boobs just jumped several cup sizes in a few seconds."
I raised an eyebrow. "Sounds painful."
"Understatement of the year." She rolled her shoulders again, letting out a satisfied hum. "This costume? Way better. No underwire digging into my ribs, no straps cutting into my shouldersājust freedom. It suits me, especially if everything tomorrow goes without a hitch!"
"And speaking of hitch-" she mumbled while adjusting the wedgie from the crack of her ass.
I raised a cocked eyebrow at the sight of her and let out a chuckle.
She stretched her arms above her head, testing the flexibility of the material, causing the fabric to hug her curves perfectly.
I took a slow sip from my whiskey glass, watching her with an amused smile.
"You like it?" she asked, raising a teasing brow as she flaunted her rearside at me.
"It suits you," I admitted, setting my glass down. "Sexy, but practical."
She grinned. "Damn right it is."
Doris sat down beside me, stretching her skinny legs across the coffee table, her bare feet nudging against one of my spare ammunition cases.
I could smell her scent from where I sat. Floral and... Fruity? Citrus, perhaps.
I blushed for a moment and snapped back to focus.
I leaned forward, checking the respirator mask in my lap, twisting the filters into place, making sure everything was secure.
"You sure those filters will work?" she asked, watching me.
"They should. Charcoal and HEPA layersāblocks out most airborne toxins. If Wayne's security throws tears gas at us, I wonāt be choking on it."
"Smart." She leaned her head back against the couch, closing her green eyes for a moment. "I could still smell VOCs and toxic fumes as Giganta, surprisingly, I've been able to survive in the harshest of environments when I'm big."
"Normal me would be choking to death on the smell of most chemicals I've stolen, but as her..." She glances at the serum injector lying on the dinner table. "I feel unstoppable..."
I placed a hand on her thigh. I knew how she'd rather be Giganta every time, how she hated herself.
But me? I like how a quiet life together with Doris is everything I could ask for.
I kiss her forehead to reassure her, I move my arm around her shoulders to give her a side hug.
She giggles for a bit, then goes back to business.
"What about your guns? You I'm hoping you got a plan to keep those hidden as well?"
"Yeah." I tapped my side holster, then pointed to the hidden panel inside my vest. "Even if they scan me, these wonāt get picked up unless they do a physical check."
"Letās hope they donāt get that close," she muttered. "I won't let them get that close."
She flashed me a wink.
For a peaceful moment, we just sat there, side by side.
Her head rested against my shoulder, my fingers lazily tracing patterns along her thigh.
The tension of tomorrowās job hung in the air, but right now, it didnāt matter.
Right now, it was just me and her.
"You nervous?" I asked.
She exhaled slowly. "Not really. Iāve done some BIG jobs before. But nothing as crazy as hitting a bazillionaire's lab."
"But yeah, this time? Itās different."
She was quiet for a second, then she turned her face slightly, her breath warm against my neck.
"Because I have you... I wouldn't have even known about the TN-1 in Wayne Biotech or even get close to the building without the military and the Justice League getting involved!"
I swallowed, my grip on her leg tightening slightly.
"Dont worry," I murmured. "We got this."
She smiled softly, lifting her head and pressing a lingering kiss against my jaw.
"Weāll be fine, Pebble. You got me. And I have you."
"Pebble." I chuckled. "Still calling me that?"
"Always. If I could, Iād keep you in my pocket as my lucky Pebble."
...
The clock ticked past midnight.
The final checklist was done.
Our weapons were ready.
Our disguises were set.
Tomorrow, we werenāt just breaking into Wayne Biotech.
We were stealing the one thing that could save Dorisās life.
And if the League or anyone else stood in our way?
We were ready.
ā¦
...
The next day, sunset.
We stood in our now-empty apartment, staring at the life we were leaving behind.
We probably werenāt coming back.
Doris took a slow breath, turning to me.
"You ready, Pebble?"
I took her hand, squeezing it gently.
"Letās go steal some Venom."Ā
Wayne Biotech was one of Gothamās most secure facilities.
Which meant storming the place was suicide.
So we werenāt breaking in.
We were walking in.
The monorail carried employees directly into the facility, bypassing most outer security measures.
We boarded the 5:42 PM monorail, blending in with the night shift scientists, our fake ID badges clipped onto our lab coats.
Doris sat beside me, her red hair tied up in a neat bun, thick glasses perched on her nose, her face so absurdly cute that I almost laughed at the idea that anyone would believe she was a supervillain.
"Stop staring," she muttered under her breath, adjusting her glasses. "Do I look like the part?"
I grinned, whispering back. "You look like a librarian whoās about to scold me for returning a book late."Ā
She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms.
"At least Iām not the one wearing a gas mask like some comic book villain."Ā
I adjusted the respirator covering my face, making sure it hid my features completely.
"Iāve been inside Wayne Biotech before," I reminded her. "If anyone recognizes me, weāre screwed. Besides-"Ā
I look around, scanning the tired faces of the other scientists in the train with us, some were also wearing face masks and others even full face gas masks.
She sighed, tapping her fingers against her knee.
"Just promise me youāll be careful, Fred."Ā
I reached and squeezed her hand.
"Always, babe."
The monorail slowed, the automated voice announcing our arrival.
It was time.
The building was sterile and pristine, filled with rows of security doors, biometric scanners, and armed guards patrolling every major hall.
Luckily, I knew a guy of flexible morals on the inside. Bribing him to give us a one-time biometric scan pass was enough to get us through the first few hurdles.
Getting inside had been the easy part.
Getting to the Venom storage room without raising alarms?
That was where the real work began.
Doris walked slightly ahead of me, playing the part of a senior scientist, her clipboard clutched in one hand as we moved toward the restricted section.
Wayne Biotech was a fortress disguised as a laboratory. I saw a faint glint of a scope being aimed at the scientists from a vantage point above.
No doubt there were other snipers and turrets outside to protect Wayne's interests.
As we stepped through the main lobby, past the sleek marble floors and walls lined with cutting-edge research displays, I felt the hairs on my neck stand up.
Even in our stolen lab coats, even with our forged ID badges, something felt off.
We moved briskly toward the restricted elevator, where a security checkpoint waited.
A stern-faced guard with a clipboard and a bio-scanner stood at the entrance.
Doris adjusted her glasses, trying to keep her composure as we approached.
"Identification, please," the guard said, his tone bored but firm.
I flashed my fake badge, keeping my expression neutral. Doris did the sameāher badge labeled her as Dr. Helena Turner, Senior Researcher, Genetics Division.
The guard squinted at Dorisās photo, then at her.
"I donāt recognize you, Dr. Turner."
Doris froze for a fraction of a secondātoo small for most people to notice, but I did.
She was brilliant. Powerful beyond measure. But deception?
Not her strong suit.
"Ohāwellā" She cleared her throat, trying to recover. "Thatās because IāI usually work the graveyard shift! You know how it is, never seeing the daytime staff, long nights in the genetics wing, barely any social interactionāha haā"
She wasn't fooling anyone.
I mentally groaned.
We were so close, and she was about to blow it.
Before the guard could press further, I leaned in, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Cut her some slack, buddy," I said smoothly, flashing a relaxed grin. "You know how senior researchers get. They live in their workābarely see the sun. Half of them wouldnāt recognize their own reflection if it wasnāt on a microscope slide."
The guard chuckled slightly, easing up.
"Yeah, I know the type," he muttered, eyeing Doris again.
I pressed on, lowering my voice.
"Besides, do you really want to be the guy who holds up Dr. Turner? You know how pissed off researchers get when theyāre late for an important project. They start using words like 'negligence' and 'gross incompetenceā in their reports."
Doris, catching on, immediately straightened, putting on her best 'Iām an exhausted scientist with no patience for delays' face.
The guard sighed, then waved us through.
"Alright, alright. Just go in. But next time, donāt forget to check in with the security roster first."
"Of course," Doris said stiffly, adjusting her glasses. "Now if youāll excuse us, weāre late."
We strode past him, reaching the elevator, stepping inside as the doors slid shut.
The moment they didā
Doris let out a quiet groan.
"That was terrible," she whispered. "I am not cut out for undercover work."
"No kidding," I murmured back, smirking. "Good thing you married someone who is."
She shot me a playful glare, but there was a hint of admiration in it, too.
...
The elevator ride was silent.
Too silent.
I noticed something.
Ever since weād entered the building, Iād felt a subtle pressure in the back of my mind.
Like we were being watched.
I glanced at the security cameras in the elevator.
Standard surveillanceānothing unusual.
But stillā¦
Something wasnāt right.
I reached for Dorisās hand, squeezing it lightly. She gave me a quick side glance, sensing my unease.
Neither of us spoke.
We were close.
Too close to fail now.
The elevator doors slid open, and we stepped out into the research wing.
The halls were pristine, the air too clean, the faint smell of sterilized metal lingering in the air.
Security cameras lined the ceilings, and occasional researchers in white coats shuffled between rooms.
We moved casually, taking a detour toward the maintenance corridorāour destination.
Thenā
A voice behind us.
"Excuse me."
I fought the urge to tense up.
Slowly, we turned.
A young security officer stood there, clipboard in hand, eyes narrowing slightly.
"You twoāwho authorized a senior researcher to bring in an unregistered assistant?"
Doris and I exchanged a lightning-fast glance.
We hadnāt expected this.
"Weāreā" Doris started, but I cut her off smoothly.
"Special project clearance," I said before flashing an annoyed look. "Are you really stopping us for this? You know how much Leland hates delays."
The officer hesitated at the mention of Dr. Leland, one of the facilityās top administrators.
It was a gambleā I've worked with Leland during my consultancy gig. He was a nightmare to work with.
I rolled my eyes for added effect.
"Listen, if you want to march in there and tell him that his genetic sample testing is going to be delayed because of security protocolābe my guest."
The officer visibly paled.
"...Oh. Uh. No, thatās okay."
"Good." I nodded, nudging Doris forward. "Weāll be on our way."
We finally reached the maintenance room.
"This is it," I murmured, scanning the keycard lock.
Doris pulled out the hacked access chip, pressing it against the scanner. The red light blinked green.
We were in.
The door slid open, revealing a small control room filled with electrical panels, data servers, and access switches.
"Alright," Doris whispered, adjusting her glasses. "Letās trigger the alarm and get what we came for."
I pulled up the laptop I kept in my suitcase, scanning Wayne's firewall for vulnerabilities.
But as I workedā
That feeling came back.
The feeling of being watched.
"Hurry," I muttered to myself. "Somethingās not right."
Doris, focused, rerouted the wires as I instructed her.
The camera in the corner of the room whirred and scanned the room.
My stomach turned and my hands felt cold. Too much time on the field has helped me develop a sixth sense, and I have a hunch of what's causing this anxiety.
I didnāt turn my head, didnāt make it obvious.
But I knew.
Someone was onto us.
"We have to move fast," I whispered.
Doris nodded, checking her pockets if she still had the serum injector.
"Triggering a biohazard alarm in Lab #6 will force an evacuation," I murmured. "Thatāll clear out the facility and minimize anyone getting caught in the chaos, especially in the room with the Venom sample."
Doris smirked. "And then we grab what we need and join everyone else in running out?"
I nodded.
"Exactly."Ā
I pressed the final override command.
ALERT: BIOHAZARD PROTOCOL V IN LAB #6 DETECTED. EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. I REPEAT-
Instantly, alarms blared, red lights flashing across the halls.
Scientists began rushing toward the exits, their voices filled with confusion but no real panic.
Doris and I waited thirty seconds, then slipped out, heading straight for the lab where the TN-1 Venom was kept.
The plan was working.
It was actually working.
Thenā
A shadow loomed in the hallway ahead of us.
And my limbs ran cold.
He stepped out of the smoke-filled corridor, his cape billowing, the red alarm lights casting shadows across his armored frame.
He had been waiting for us.
He knew.
He always knew.
Doris stopped mid-step, her breathing slow, steady.
Even without turning to me, I could tell she was already considering her next move - to let the monster out.
Batmanās white lenses locked onto her first, then flicked toward me.
His voice was calm, but sharp.
"Nice disguises."Ā
My grip on my sidearm tightened beneath my lab coat.
Doris tilted her head, adjusting her glasses like this was some kind of joke.
"Oh, come on, Bats," she teased. "Can't we just be here because we are actual Wayne BT employees?"Ā
His jaw tightened slightly.
"I know everyone in this building by their face and name. You're not in the payroll. You two are up to something," he replied. "I think I know exactly what."Ā
He turned slightly, his cape shifting as he spoke into his comm.
"Gordon, Iāve got Giganta. Wayne Biotech Sublevel 3."Ā
Doris cursed under her breath.
"Shit."Ā
I slowly reached for my weapon, but Batman immediately raised a gloved hand.
"Donāt."Ā
His voice was deadly quiet.
"You make a move, I put you down. You know that, Garfield."Ā
Dorisā eyes narrowed.
She hated that he knew my name.
Hated that he had any leverage over me.
I needed to think fast.
The air felt heavier.
"Turn around now," he said, his voice low, authoritative. "This is your only warning."
Doris instinctively reached for the injection gun inside her coat.
I subtly stepped forward, putting myself between them.
"Sorry, Batman," I said. "But we really need whatās in that lab."
His expression didnāt change.
"Wayne Biotech isnāt yours to rob."
"Neither is her life yours to control!" I shot back. Taking both Doris and Batman by surprise. "Sheās dying. We fix this, and weāre gone."
I tried to plead to him, prevent things from escalating any further out of control.
Batman was taken aback and kept silent for a moment.
If he was a decent human being, he would-
...
He drew a batarang and assumed a combat stance.
"I'm not taking that risk. Youāre not walking away from this."
Doris pressed the injector to her neck.
"Freddieā" she whispered.
Resigned, I nodded. "Do it."
And I drew my gun.

When I woke up, I was lying on cold concrete.
The warmth I had been pressed against all night was gone.
I blinked, adjusting to the morning light streaming through the warehouse holes.
And then I saw her.
Doris.
Not Giganta.
Not the towering goddess.
Just Doris Zeul.
Small. Scrawny. Pale skin covered in faint freckles, brown red hair messy and unkempt, not like the glowing fiery red hair from when she was giant, no. Just undyed brown red hair.
She was curled into herself, completely bare against the chill of the warehouse floor.
Vulnerable.
I quickly shrugged off my greatcoat, moving to kneel beside her, draping it over her petite frame.
She stirred, blinking up at me.
"Mmm⦠morning, Pebble."Ā
I smirked. "Morning, big girl. Youāre looking⦠smaller than usual."Ā
She rolled her eyes, sitting up and put on her thick geeky glasses. She wrapped my coat around herself.
"Itās not my fault your coat is the only thing that fits me in the morning," she grumbled.
I chuckled, standing up and stretching.
"We should get out of here," I said. "Iāll call a cab."Ā
Doris groaned, rubbing her tired eyes. "Great. How do I explain to the driver why Iām only wearing a coat?"
I smirked.
"Weāll just give him a really big tip."Ā
She snorted, shaking her head. "Oh, I hate that youāre actually right."Ā
And with thatā
We walked out of the warehouse together.
"Can't wait to get you back home. You must be starving."
She chuckled cutely. "Oh don't you know it!"
Side by side we walked down the abandoned warehouse rows, I made sure that no ne'er-do-wells got near my wife.
The cab ride had been awkward as hell, but money had a way of making questions like āwho's the half naked woman you're with?ā disappear.
By the time we reached our apartment, I held the door open for her as we stepped inside.Ā
I held her hand, it was⦠soft.
Normal.
Like any other woman just coming home after a long night.
The apartment door clicked shut behind us.
Doris exhaled, relaxing her shoulders as she stepped inside. The oversized black coat I had given her still hung loosely around her small frame, her bare feet padding softly against the wooden floor.
"God, I always love coming home to this place," she murmured, stretching her arms above her head before slipping the coat off and tossing it onto the laundry pile near the door.
I raised an eyebrow. "You're just gonna throw it in like that?"
She flashed me a lazy grin. "It's going to the dry cleaners tomorrow anyway."
I shook my head with a small chuckle.
It was such a simple thing.
Such a normal thing.
Like we hadnāt just fought for our lives a few hours ago.
Like she hadnāt just grown into a 50-foot giant, ripped through an entire gang with her bare hands, and scared the Joker so badly he ran for his life.
Now, here she wasāDoris Zeul, my wifeāgoing about her evening like any other woman, sorting laundry and thinking about dry cleaning.
And just like that, I realized something.
There was no real difference between Hannah Ceil, the quiet scientist I had fallen in love with, and Doris Zeul, the infamous Giganta.
Hannah had just been a maskāa layer of paint over the real woman underneath.
Doris was always her.
Same voice.
Same habits.
Same woman.
She was just Hannah without all the extra coats of deception.
Doris hummed softly as she made her way toward the kitchen, peeking into the fridge.
"Pebble, weāre out of eggs," she muttered, her green eyes scanning the nearly empty shelves. "And milk. AndāJesus, Freddie, I thought you told me that you went to the grocery last week?"
I rubbed the back of my neck. "Been a little busy, you know, meeting cops and psychopaths."
She rolled her eyes, shutting the fridge with her hip. "Alright. Grocery run first thing tomorrow."
I smirked, watching her move.
If someone walked in right now, they wouldnāt see a wanted supervillain.
Theyād see a wife, casually adjusting a loose strand of red hair, already making plans for tomorrowās chores.
I leaned against the doorway. "You donāt act like someone who just went toe-to-toe with Jokerās men."
She gave me a side glance, smirking. "And you donāt act like someone who just had a knife to his face."
She approaches me and strokes the cut from Joker's knife from the night prior. It stung a bit.
"But you sure do look the part..." Her face evoked a sense of concern.
I exhale sharply, my face betrayed a smirk.
"You really had me scared last night, Fred. Please be more careful. I'm just glad that you're safe despite coming face to face with the Joker."
"I know." I held her hand on my face. "I'm just glad you were there with me."
She kissed me on the lips and wandered toward the bedroom, pausing only to grab one of my shirts from the dresser, slipping it on over her head.
"There," she sighed, finally dressed in something comfortable. "Much better."
I just stood there, watching her.
Watching how effortless it was for her to slip back into this normal life.
I changed into a t-shirt and sweats, sliding under the sheets beside her.
She curled into my side instinctively, her body still unusually warm against mine, her breathing already slow and steady.
I let my fingers trail lazily along her arm, feeling the smooth skin beneath my fingertips.
The same arm that could tear apart walls.
The same body that had bent steel and crushed concrete.
But now, she was small again.
Vulnerable.
Trusting me to keep her safe.
I pressed a kiss to her forehead, letting my eyes drift shut.
It didnāt matter how big she could become.
Didnāt matter if she could break the world in half.
To meā
She was just Doris.
And I loved her.
No matter what name she wore.
...
...
I was awoken by my wife
Doris was properly dressed again, wrapped in one of my old hoodies and a pair of sweatpants that were way too big for her small frame.
She wasĀ hungry.
She stretched, letting out a tired groan, her hair messy from sleep, before flopping onto the couch.
"Mmm, I swear, I could sleep for a week," she muttered, curling up into a ball.
I smirked, adjusting my clothes before heading into the kitchen.
"You just spent an entire night the size of a building, and youāre tired?"
"Growth takes energy, Pebble," she said, yawning. "And energy means food. So unless you want me to shrink into nothing, you better feed me."Ā
I chuckled, shaking my head.
"Youāre impossible."Ā
"And you love me anyway."Ā
Damn it.
She was right.
...
....
I put together a quick breakfast, throwing some bacon, baked potatoes, an avocado, and toast onto a plate before sliding it across the counter to her.
She immediately dug in, practically inhaling the food like she hadnāt eaten in days.
I sat across from her, watching as she took huge bites, her green eyes still half-lidded with exhaustion but gleaming with something else.
Something calculated.
She was thinking.
Finally, she set down her fork and sighed.
"Alright," she muttered, wiping her mouth. "I need to tell you how the serum works if weāre going to make a plan."Ā
I leaned forward, elbows on the table. "Iām listening."Ā
She exhaled, her fingers tapping lightly against the plate.
"The serum I use? Itās complicated," she said. "Itās not just a growth stimulantāitās a genetic stabilizer. My cancer is in my pituitary gland, which controls growth. The serum hijacks it and supercharges the process, converting the excess malignant growth of the tumor from the pituitary and other parts of my brain into functional parts."Ā
I nodded, following along.
"So itās not just making you bigāitās keeping you alive."Ā
She nodded. "Exactly."Ā
Then her expression darkened slightly.
"But the problem is⦠the serum burns out fast, the more strenuous the task, the quicker the consumption. This is especially true when doing heavy lifting and fighting against the Justice League." she admitted. "I have to keep making new batches, and the ingredients are insanely hard to get. Thatās why Iāve been pulling those heists."
I frowned. "So how much longer until your current supply runs out?"
She hesitated.
Then, softly:
"Assuming nobody steals the last batch I concocted in that warehouse. A month. Maybe less."Ā
I clenched my jaw.
A month.
That wasnāt enough time.
"We need a solution," I said firmly. "A long-term one."Ā
She leaned forward, her eyes narrowing with intent.
"I think I have one," she said while adjusting her glasses. "Thereās a compound that could act as a catalystāsomething that could keep my body producing the serum indefinitely without me needing constant injections."Ā
I narrowed my eyes. "What kind of compound?"
She licked her lips, her expression shifting into something sharp, predatory.
"TN-1 Venom."Ā
I felt a chill run up my spine.
"You want to use Baneās Venom?" I repeated, my voice low, cautious.
She nodded.
"Think about it, Fred," she said, excitement creeping into her voice. "Venom is designed to enhance physical strength, and it regenerates constantly in Baneās bloodstream. If I can modify it, I can make it work for meāmake it keep me big without needing constant doses of the serum."Ā
I frowned. "Youāre talking about merging two unstable compounds. What if it goes wrong? What if it kills you?"Ā
She exhaled, running a hand through her hair.
"Fred," she murmured, her voice suddenly softer, smaller. "I donāt have a choice. Without this⦠Iām dead anyway."Ā
I clenched my fist.
I hated this.
I hated that she was forced to make these kinds of decisions.
That the world had backed her into a corner where the only way to live was to steal and fight and run.
I took a slow breath.
"Alright," I said. "I think I know where to get it."
She blinked, surprised.
"Youāre really in this with me?"
I gave her a flat look. "Did you really think I was going to walk away?"
Her lips curled into a smirk. "No. But itās nice to hear it out loud."Ā
I rolled my eyes.
"TN-1 is off the streets right now," I continued. "Baneās in Arkham, and his suppliers have gone dark. But thereās one place that has an active sample."Ā
She leaned forward, eyes sparkling with genuine intrigue. "Where? I have been trying so hard to get my hands in at least a sample of it! Even Ivy almost killed me even when I asked nicely."
I met her gaze.
"Wayne Biotech."Ā
She grinned.
"Oh, now thatās interesting."Ā
We spent the next hour discussing the heist, going over blueprints, security systems, and escape routes.
"You canāt just storm in like a rhino as per your usual MO," I said. "Wayne Biotech is under constant surveillance and I've seen Batman roaming it's halls more than once when I worked as a consultant there. Weāll need stealth."Ā
"Stealth isnāt exactly my strong suit," she admitted, smirking.
"Which is why we go in disguised. We find a way inside first, then you grow when we need to."Ā
She grinned. "Oh, I love when you make plans that involve me smashing things, Pebble."Ā
I shook my head, chuckling.
"Youāre impossible."Ā
"And youāre a criminal now," she teased. "How does it feel?"
I exhaled, rubbing my temples.
"Iāll let you know when it sinks in."Ā
She laughed, leaning over to steal a bite from my plate.
It was exactly how she behaved as Hannah when she was still keeping this all from me. She is the same woman I married.
And for a momentā
It felt like we were just a normal couple, planning our future over breakfast.
A future where she wouldnāt have to run anymore.
A future where we would finally be free.
