#dc slang

The Washington Post delivered a gem of an article today and it made me laugh sooo hard. First reason being, because having a columnist trying to explain DC slang in an article is hilarious. It's like Urban Dictionary crashed into the Washington Post and made a "DC Slang For Dummies". Secondly, the section where the columnist tried to explain "Jont" is so dead on and is something that I need to email to all my Boston friends. Anyone from DC who uses "Jont" in their vocabulary and has attempted to explain it to someone not from the DMV, good luck because it's almost impossible. The only thing that I can try to compare it to is coño in Spanish, in the fact that it can mean a million different things, yet everyone who speaks the lingo gets what it's supposed to mean in the particular sentence.

mad - used like very, like "i'm mad tired" etc. it's an east coast thing not just dc

carried - used to say someone played your life. like "he didn't call me back? he carried me"

deep - plentiful, etc. "he's rolling 20 deep"

joint/jont - literally anything can be a joint omg. a person, a food, anything. "yo that mercedes joint is nice" etc

siced - excited about something

fakin like - unfufilled promise. "she said she was coming to the party but she fakin like.."

bait - someone you're trying to get at. usually used to describe pretty girls or guys. "she's the bait"

bama - a no good person. for example "don't talk to him he's from baltimore they some bamas" (lol irl)

kill moe - usually used as one phrase but they can be used separately. idek what this means but hoodrats say it

put on blast - putting someone's business out there for everyone to see

i'm not about that life - this is not part of my lifestyle. pretty explanatory
