These two started out as fan characters and I still often refer to them by their old shortened names DBlade and SSword (this is also what I tag them with apparently).

Shadow and Blade are a pair of drifting viruses spawned by Soed back during his original rampage. They travel across worlds until attaching to an unlucky host which they slowly infect, turning them into a sort of secondhand Soed spawn that can go on corrupting the rest of their world, letting Shadow and Blade detach and move onto the next one.

DeMel was one such subject, but as the world glitched out and put the timeline in a neverending loop, Shadow and Blade have been stuck with her, half transformed into Soed spawn, for a very long time. DeMel has no idea what they really are and Shadow and Blade are still young in designer time and don’t fully understand what their purpose is either. Shadow and Blade seem to have no knowledge of the loop, just like everyone else.

They’re almost completely ethereal and the only real physical presence one can feel from them is cold, cold air when in close proximity of them. They can’t touch or hold any physical objects or people at all in their default forms, but have the ability to go into/possess objects (or people) if need be. They’re attached to DeMel until her transformation is finished and can hide completely inside her shadow, they have freedom to move pretty far away from her but her shadow will stretch to meet their “tails” and they’ll always be able to find each other again.

Shadow is a lady lover that acts arrogant and snarky as a front, but he’s 100% bark and no bite with a slow and self conscious gooey center that is all too easy to expose. He likes to think he’s cool and can be a little overly mean to new people in order to not appear weak, but is genuinely sweet and down to earth. He’s most natural when he’s alone with DeMel and Blade.

Blade is more reserved and very quiet compared to Shadow’s loud mouth. He is smarter and more focused, and has a very dry, sarcastic sense of humour, with Shadow often being the subject of ridicule. He’s more cool headed and mature than DeMel and Shadow and they usually consider him the boss when it comes to important decisions.

They both utterly adore DeMel above all else and do everything they can to protect her. They both like to tease her a lot but are 100% behind her in everything she does and are constantly amazed by her accomplishments. Every day with her is a happy day for them. Shadow, being the more emotional of the two, is more vocal and outward about his love.

They’ve been attached to DeMel since she was very young, she happened to be the first child they attached to in their travels.
