As an aroace who loves soulmate Aus Ive seen a bunch of Aus that range from blatantly aphobic (the compass post comes to mind) to just amatanormative. Ive also seen ones that say aros dont habe to have a soulmate and their fine. What ive noticed about those particular Aus is that theyre generally written by aspec people. I was wondering if you had any posts that talk about your opinion on this?
Hi there! You’re going to have to be more specific. My opinion on what? Soulmate AUs written by aspecs? If that’s the case no I haven’t talked about that specifically so here are my thoughts right now:
I genuinely do not care who’s writing soulmate AUs and why. Whether or not they’re aspec doesn’t matter much to me; especially because someone can be ace and still be arophobic, so just because someone is aspec doesn’t mean I automatically trust them not to hurt me. And aros are also capable of hurting each other. If people want to write soulmate AUs, I genuinely do not care. The less disgustingly arophobic they are, the better. What matters to me is that people acknowledge the societal biases built into that concept. Because it’s not just about people writing soulmate AUs and never has been, they’re just a really common cultural example of amatonormativity and a specific type of arophobia in action.
If you weren’t talking about that specifically and you want to know my opinions more generally, that’s like, half my posts, but if you want the abridged version then here is a good jumping off point.
Ignore my last question I was lost in thought and messed some of it up cause I was thinking how I used to identify as genderfluid >_< I'd like to be part of relocation! I'm a 19 agender no demiro/ace! I can write, bake, and create general tomfoolery. I also have experience in field band as a flute!
I am assigning you the Agent Code Number Agender#70. Please report to your District Leader in Tallahassee District for your first mission. Tell them you want to be involved in relocation. Send back reports and updates here.
I declare masks as a suitable replacement for aces who don't like hats
Solid and I love masks.
Anon Said: Hmmm but are headscarves hats too??
I don’t know if they are offically in the hat section but headscarves should get more love either way
Anon said: I'm willing to believe ace culture is hats because I'm pretty sure I have more hats than anyone else I know. My favorite is a beanie that says "FACE" but the F is really skinny and when most people see it they read "ACE"
Now if I ever get a hat that says F, I’m just going to remove the F
Maybe we could come up with a word to mean the entire community.
Yeah that’s a really good idea, but I think people tend to use queer as the general person understands what it means. I’ve also seen people use ace as an umbrella term for the ace community. But yeah, really good idea and I’d be keen to see how it turns out.
Thoughts on this?

@ everyone who sent me a message yesterday:
thank you
I’m still not really in a proper state to respond coherently, still kinda just feeling like a ghost...
but thank you
You have so many kids youre going to need a second parent for them darlin.
a family can be a dad, his dogs, and his 10+ kids
I know similar questions have been asked before and Im sorry if this is going to bother you, but is there any trans guy characters other than Sonny?
No one else is a definite. I am totally open for people to interpret other characters as trans, but that could also seem pretty frustrating because it’s not concrete representation.
There are plenty of people who have brought up Ed being trans, and I really like that idea! However, I also feel if I smacked down the canon hammer (esp this late in the story) it would feel tacky on my end because there’s no character arc or mention of it in the comic. Like, a thrown-on after thought with no effort to portray it.
(If anyone has any thoughts on this, lemme know!)
THAT BEING SAID, Dett’s gender is pretty fluid and could possibly feel more one way later in the future. Just currently in the comic, they are pretty content as they are.
