Sailing on a bed of lupines. I walked past this every day for a week, and took countless photos until settling on one that encompassed my feelings and experience. It's difficult to put the visceral experience of places into words and photographs. Moments like this one, important to me, are near impossible to capture and share; one more reason I respect great photo journalists so deeply. My time in Thingeyri was very special; a 1.5 week long result of just letting things happen: I found myself wrapped in the warmth of a coffee house and it's small volunteer community in an old fishing town with a population of just over 230. In between work and projects with the owners of said coffee house, I mountain biked, hiked, drank lots of coffee and rode horses. All pretty excellent ways of spending one's time. I'll miss it for exactly what it is: a temporary home and family that I can rely on always being there and always being different. Thanks again to Simbahollin and the lovely people in and around it. #Thingeyri #Iceland #westfjords #fishingvillage #lupines #boats #oceanofflowers #beautifulevening #beautiful #travelstories #travel #travelphotography #solotravel #darksky #dayallday #daystoremember #home
