Song: All of the Lights, band edition.

Today was good. Cook knew we were being doofuses in our seminar and had fun with it.

Went to the North Wilkes v. Central Wilkes football game and had fun with both bands. J was getting to me more than usual. She wouldn’t make a decision or had to have some hang up about everything, and I just wanted to yell “HE’S YOUR BOYFRIEND. YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT, AND I’M NOT MAKING DECISIONS FOR YOU. BE A GROWN UP” but I didn’t. I think as far I got was to tell her to make a decision because I didn’t have a dog in the fight.

Got back to Jacobs and she was freaking about Dustin coming or not, but wouldn’t tell him she wanted him to come. Then he wasn’t so she got sad, and I was ready to check out, so we came home.

The cup is hot in her hand

And against her chest,

As she hopes against hope for its warmth,

Reaching through her skin to her heart,

To soothe the perpetual ache

Of bitterness. And regret.

She curls tighter, knees guarding her form from view.

Head bowed, drinking in steam from the cup,

A hand clutched 'round a twisting stomach,

She cocoons herself in an old blanket.

Pretends the warmth is energy lit from within.

And hopes to emerge beautiful.
