ニシジマアツシさんが中心となって10年ぶりに京都芸術センターで開催された「JOHN CAGE / DAVID TUDOR」（11月26日 (土)・27日 (日)）を見てきました。 20年以上前のIAMAS時代にニシジマアツシさんを通じて小杉武久さんと出会い、私が今まで音楽だと思っていたものの外側に広がるサウンドアートの世界を知り、以来たびたび関わらせていただく機会がありました。今回フライヤーのデザインを依頼していただいてとても嬉しく、今までに教えていただいたことを何かデザインの中に映してお礼がしたいと思いました。 色々な案を出しましたが、流行りの飾り付けや小手先のテクニックでは相応しいものはできないことを痛感し、ジョン・ケージ、デヴィッド・チューダーの資料を見直しながら、文字をネガポジ反転し、文字ではない部分を使うことで、音楽の外側にある世界を伝えられないかと考えました。 コンサートの第１部で上演されたDavid TudorのRainforest IVは、色々な音源の信号を振動に変換し、振動スピーカー（※）が取り付けられたオブジェクトを直接鳴らす作品です。 この20年で何度かこの作品を体験する機会がありましたが、今までは、美術館の壁に固定してあったり、ステージで演奏されるものを観客席で聞くものでした。今回は、観客は演奏中ずっと空間内をウロウロして音を体験することができる演出がされていて、長い時間をかけて作品を体験できました。これは今までになかったRainforestの演奏だったのではないかと思います。 奇しくも、フライヤーのデザインでDavid Tudorの文字は上下にバラバラと配置された四角や三角になっていて、この作品のオブジェクトを連想するようにもなったのではないか、と勝手に解釈を広げています。 （※振動スピーカーとは、本体の底で触れている面に振動を加えて共鳴させることで音を鳴らす性質を持つスピーカーのこと。） #京都芸術センター #johncage #davidtudor #ニシジマアツシ #村井啓哲 #GakSato #吹田哲二郎 #竹村延和 #Haco #恵良真理 #森本ゆり https://www.kac.or.jp/events_archive/ (Kyoto Art Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClgCmCWrIUQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The MoMa is back and it's astounding. After closing down for the Summer to complete the final stages of their $450 Mil. extension and renovation, the museum will reopen its doors to the public on October 21st!
