The art is really good and the writing is amazing, especially the way Mark Russell writes Racer X. Hell, Racer X is so good sometimes it feels like Speed Racer is the companion series when it's supposed to be the other way around.

Mad Cave has announced Speed Racer: Tales from the Road, a quarterly release featuring one-shots that will expand on the Speed Racer universe. The comic book series hails from writers Mark London and David Pepose, artist Sebastian Piriz, colorist Rex Lokus, and letterer Buddy Beaudoin.

In the first issue of Speed Racer: Tales from the Road: "When Interpol sends Racer X on a mission to take down a brutal warlord known only as the Viking, a deadly chase ignites across a shadowy European city. Packed with brutal hand-to-hand combat, turbocharged vehicular mayhem, and a haunting look at the choices that forge a man, this oversized one-shot dives deep into the past of the masked driver you think you know. Also featuring a Spritle and Chim-Chim backup story where they borrow the Mach 5 for the joyride of a lifetime!" (Mad Cave Studios)

Speed Racer: Tales from the Road #1 goes on sale on October 22, 2025. Cover A is by Sebastian Piriz, Cover B is by Stefano Simeone, Cover C is by Shane Connery Volk, and Cover D is by Joe Quesada.
