I recently watched I Will Find You and it was entertaining enough... but you really can't stop and think about the plot too much (or, y'know, more than five seconds) because then it immediately falls apart.

Like, what exactly was the time line of that night? David woke up from sleep / his trance / whatever, found his son's mangled body in his bed and called 911. Daddy Lenny and Uncle Philip recognized his voice, drove out, snuck through the house and found the bloody baseball bat... which for some reason... was not located anywhere near David or his son's body... took it and left... and all of that before the actual paramedics arrived on site. Uh-huh.

Also, this whole time Daddy Lenny and Uncle Philip must have known that the neighbor was lying... but never wondered what tf her motive was? It's mentioned multiple times that her testimony (that she saw David bury the bat in the woods) was pivotal and they knew she was lying, but they never wondered why or investigated? Makes no sense at all. Some cops they are.

(And while we're at it, during the trial didn't anyone raise the question what she was doing creeping around in the woods at 3 am in the morning? It's not like that's a normal time and place for a middle aged woman to chill out...)

I personally also find it completely absurd that Cheryl ended up marrying the same guy who was the reason she wasn't home that night, especially because it was not work related but for other reasons, as she mentioned. Come on, am I really supposed to buy she wasn't drowning in guilt every time she saw him? If she'd already been madly in love with him before, hm, maybe, but I find it hard to believe she wouldn't keep her distance after that, and instead managed to fall in love with him.

But what really takes the cake on my highlight list of plot holes is that entire incident with Nicky Fisher (who should be written Nikki to be more badass, but whatever). So David suspects that Nicky Fisher has his son, and to get his attention and some answers threatens Nicky's daughter. However since Nicky is a ruthless mob boss to frighten the masses and also apparently the only person in this show to have his life in order

he sends out his minions who subdue David within moments and find a neat solution for him

Literally, between this--

--and the plastic sheet there pass like 2 minutes, tops. And yet, before they can shoot him, Adam – David's childhood friend, Uncle Philip's son, and a cop involved with Nicky's gang, trading insider info for Uncle Philip's and Daddy Lenny's lives – joins the scene and informs the other minions that there's been a change of plans

Sorry, what exactly made Nicky, who never forgives anyone threatening his family, change his mind within three seconds flat? Because unless he's sooooo changeable this makes zero sense.

It only gets wilder from here on out. Nicky's private plane takes David and Adam to, idk, some private mob boss beach bar thing where Nicky's hanging out. Nicky also already took Daddy Lenny hostage – again, for the record, Nicky hates Daddy Lenny's guts and only didn't kill him because Adam pimped out his nubile body cop insider info – and proceeds to play some weird “kill your dad if you are righteous” game with David. David ultimately passes the test but before he does Adam loses his nerve and aims his gun at Nicky to make it stop, clearly proving his disloyalty.

And yet.... Nicky only does some good-natured brainstorming with David to help him actually find his son, then jets him back into his natural habitat to resume his mission. Daddy Lenny is also later released back into his home without a scratch.

What happens with Adam, you ask? The same Adam who offers this as a parting wisdom

Also, please celebrate with me the fact that Adam just saved David's life, admitted to having compromised his integrity for years to keep his and David's fathers alive... and still doesn't even get a frikkin hug to express “Thanks for everything, happy dying” before David flies off... David's kind of self-centered when you think about it tbh.

Or maybe David just read the script because, you guessed it, Samaritan Nicky Fisher... simply lets Adam go. Just like that. The only string attached is that he needs to continue providing insider info... which is the same arrangement they had all along. So not only did Adam point a gun at Nicky Fisher's head and woke up the next day, no, he also didn't suffer ANY consequences for that.

And to top even that it is later mentioned that Adam lost his cop job (due to some very badly planned prison break shenanigans he engaged in earlier) and is effectively worthless to Nicky... so the Evil Fisher Gang just backs off and lets him live is life as a private investigator in peace. They just let him off easy! They don't even demand money or break his bones or, idk, trample his front yard to make his life difficult. They also don't kill Daddy Lenny or Uncle Philipp even though this entire deal was what their lives were riding on for literal years. Nothing at all!

I'm just gonna say it – no matter how you slice it, this entire plot line only makes sense if Nicky and Adam are secretly an item. What started purely transactional to save his father / humiliate his nemesis turned into ~more~ over the years--

“Darling, I know David is an idiot and threatened your daughter, but come on, he's my bff! You can't just shoot him! Who would be my best man at our wedding if you do, huh? ... Yes, you have every right to be angry ... Do you really have to scold him yourself? I could--... The beach bar routine? Really? ... No, it's not a classic, it's cliché. Guess we'll never see eye to eye on that one ... Yes, I'll fly over with him and make it up to you once you've dealt with him ... No, I miss you more, you old charmer. ... Yeah, I can't wait either, love you, bye!”

--but that's honestly too gruesome to imagine.
