The both of them! Ahi’s snarled, apocalyptic tangle of hair has demanded a great deal of attention ever since she was a child, and though her memories of time spent sitting between her mother’s legs whilst she pulled and oiled, and gathered, and smacked in equal measure are some of her most unpleasant, she’s never been able to cut it short or even lessen the degree of neuroticism with which she tends to it. She’s never spent less than an hour in the shower, because it’s never taken less than that to condition it. There’s a wicker basket in their bathroom full of books (odds and ends of varied quality that appeal to them both). Davie loves long, warm baths, the tiny glass bottles of Ahi’s numerous oils and scents catching the light, the steam rising and rolling, watching her reflection, half-smothered, fumble in the misted mirror. Sometimes, it’s Ahi that will come in and frown at her until she towels up while Davie attempts wholeheartedly to entice her into the tub.
how do they make up after a fight?
That depends on the severity of the fight. Ahi is less than forthcoming, and will just as quickly become frigid as she will heatedly angry. While it’s something they’ve learned to work around, she can, on occasion, be truly stubborn and close herself off to Davie. Times like these, she won’t even refuse to talk, she’ll steer entirely clearly of the problem, hoping that maybe, deprived of her attention, it’ll go away. It doesn’t, because of course not, and this is when their tempers tend to get the best of them. Ahi’s tight lipped frigidity helps Davie’s hurt none, and then they both inflict a little more hurt for good measure. This is pretty rare though, Ahi’s in full acknowledgement of the fact that she has a problem, and she’ll force herself to talk long before she consciously allows things to lurch into the dark places. It’s Ahi that’ll come to apologize, then. Their small disagreements don’t really everdevolve into anything of this sort, they’re very familiar with one another, and their wavelengths carry the same frequency. More or less.
who prefers rain and who prefers sun?
Ahi loathes the heat. She hates long, brooding summers, she’s sullen about the humidity, and the flies, and the pervasive sticky-ness that seems to have coated everything like god’s hocked a globule of sweet spit at the earth and let it sit. She’s actually used those words before. She’d take a rainy day over a sunny one, no question. Davie’s the opposite, she loves the beach, and short shorts (O.K, well, Ahi loves these too. On Davie, DUH) and carnivals brimming with fried food. Especially food that’s not supposed to be fried. Ahi’s dresser drawer houses a small but growing collection of polaroid pictures of Davie struggling to fit too-large pieces of food in her mouth. #romance
what’s their favorite place to go together?
They’re flexible. Ahi’s less sociable than Davie by a very long shot, and would rather they be by themselves, but it doesn’t keep them from doing things. Davie might rather be out and about, but she’s just as willing to spend the day in, limbs tangled, noses brushing. They enjoy the time they spend together, irregardless of whatever it is that they’re doing. Their favourite places to go together are probably food festivals (more pictures for Ahi’s polaroid collection! more opportunities tease one another into kissing whatever shred of culinary dignity they might have left goodbye! Sharing food as an act of deep, spiritual intimacy) and the beach when it’s largely deserted, where they share a giant twin-popsicle shaped floating raft and Davie collects pieces of sea glass for the glass jar sitting in their bedroom whilst Ahi religiously lathers herself with sunscreen and pretends to read whilst watching Davie from behind her book.
Do they celebrate anniversaries, etc.?
Yes! Ahi’s not big on birthdays, but she loves all that other shit. She’s a big gift-giver, so she approves of any excuse to buy Davie presents. They’re neither of them fond of grand gestures, even though Davie can occasionally get a little carried away (see: countless luridly bright helium balloons strung from every available surface, wilting sadly in the days that followed before finally having been cut down by a mollified Davie whilst Ahi valiantly attempt to stifle her giggles + the time Davie threw face masks instead of confetti and startled Ahi so she knocked the wine over and fell on her ass in the puddle). Davie loves surprises, and Ahi takes an inordinately large amount of satisfaction in watching her get slightly frustrated because of her complete refusal to ever supply any sort of hint.
what’s their nightly routine?
Ahi has very involved, multi step night routine and she’s exercised her undue influence over Davie to ensure that she adopts something similar. Her favourite time of the day is standing together at their twin washbasins and talking whilst they apply their night creams. It’s when Ahi’s at her most relaxed, and when she’s most willing to let Davie distract her however she’d like. Ahi likes watching Davie’s face, a radiant, open, shining face, the sudden twilight of her eyes blasting every atom of air out of her lungs, startling, even now.
who’s more likely to burn dinner?
Ahi is a shitty cook. She’d probably be O.K, if she applied herself with the same neurotic frenzy she adopts when faced with failure of other sorts, but she’s just never been interested in it. She can be coaxed into helping Davie with minimal effort on Davie’s part, but her idea of help just as often extends to ‘perching on the counter and tasting things’ as anything else. Davie doesn’t mind too much, unless Ahi becomes whiny, and then she’s normally delegated to some task or the other (which does very little to improve the whining, but things go by quicker).
1. Have you thought about what will happen to your Candy’s relationship with their crush once high school is over?
I’m going to preface this answer with the unashamed admission that I play these games for sappy romantic happiness. It’s not that I’m not a fan of tragic endings or ~drama~ (I love drama), but most of my characters have little pieces of me and it’s hard for me to give them sad endings. Obviously not everyone is going to stay together, but I have quite a few happy endings. And I firmly resist the notion that they’re unrealistic! I’m still w/ my boyfriend from high school, 4 years after!
Anyway, thanks for asking, Nonny! Here’s a rundown! It’s going to get long, so I’m putting it under a read-more.
Calemar
Her relationship with Castiel is actually one of the only ones I have that doesn’t really end well! Their relationship during high school was a pretty big indicator of what it would be like after. They have an on and off relationship for a few years, breaking up because they just aren’t compatible for a long-term relationship and then getting back together because they are young and attracted to/care about each other. Eventually, though, something happens that they can’t really come back from. It’s a mutual decision, and they pretty much stop speaking to each other. Despite the relationship being rocky as hell, Calemar still remembers it fondly.
Calemar and Kim are my together-forever couple. I knew as soon as I started shipping them that Kim was someone Calemar would love deeply and indefinitely. They’re a wonderful mixture of comfortable together and crazy about each other, so when they leave high school, their paths just intertwine. It’s partly fate and partly their own efforts to stay together. They end up living together in a small & cozy apartment and traveling during the summers.
Calemar and Armin are… complicated. If I’m being honest. I still haven’t decided whether or not they stay together romantically (currently I am leaning toward yes!), but regardless, they are always a part of each other’s lives! From the start, their relationship was based on mutual interests and compatible personalities. They just work together. Armin is a frequent guest at Calemar and Kim’s apartment, and the three of them get along tremendously (though Kim and Armin still tease each other <3).
Lu
Lu and Lysander date for a few years after high school. Both become very involved in their own personal goals, however. Lu has given up her English degree to pursue a career as a dancing instructor, and Lysander is traveling a lot for his music. Their relationship becomes distant, and though they love each other very much, they decide that staying together is ultimately causing them more grief than joy. They split up. BUT. Fast forward into their late 30s. Lu has her dance studio, and is a divorcee/mom to two little girls. While she’s dropping them off at school, she runs into Lysander dropping off his nephew! He’s in town to visit Leigh and Rosa, and they decide to get drinks to “catch up.” But the attraction/affection from years ago is still very present, and one thing leads to another. They end up getting married in their 40s. <3
Davie
Davie and Nathaniel are one of my pairings that I refused to let go. They definitely have rocky periods in their relationships. One resulted in a brief separation, but when they got back together their feelings for each other were on much firmer ground. They just connect on so many levels, and they have been through a lot together that you just can’t walk away from. They push through their college education, and once both of them have graduated and obtained steady careers, they move in together! As for their Future™, the day that Nathaniel works up the courage to propose is the day Davie finds out she’s pregnant. It’s a very emotional day, lmao.
Davie and Dajan have always had a very relaxed relationship, due to them attending separate schools. Their lives continue to steer in different directions after high school, but they always stay in touch, and when they happen to be in the same area, they make sure to get together. Davie really appreciates how easy things are with him. They shoot each other emails about exciting things happening in their lives, or call each other in the middle of the night if they really need to talk to someone. There’s never any pressure to keep in touch; they just do.
Davie and Charlotte date seriously for a pretty long time in college. They’re very much the kind of couple to call at 3AM and ask to come over/give each other drawers at their apartments. Charlotte has big plans for her life, though, and eventually they lead her away from Davie. It’s not really anyone’s fault. They don’t keep in touch the same way that Davie and Dajan do, but Davie has a lot of pictures saved of their time together, and she remembers it very fondly.
Gemma
Gemma and Kentin date for a couple years after high school, but it ends up not working out. If you were to ask them what happened, neither could really put their finger on it. They remain very close friends (i.e. “You’re going to be the godparent to my baby” kind of friends). That being said, there are definitely moments in their lives where they wonder what might have happened if they’d stayed together (which may or may not result a period of exploration, haven’t decided yet!).
Gemma’s relationship with Melody lasts a little longer than hers with Kentin. For awhile they had the kinds of ambitions that worked well together, and they were amazing at keeping busy schedules while still maintaining a warm and devoted relationship. However, once Gemma’s charity work started taking off, she sort of threw herself into the work. Melody began to feel like the relationship was one-sided, and she broke it off. Gemma is the first to admit that it’s her fault the relationship ended. They run into each other from time to time, and the interactions are always pleasant! But Gemma can’t help but be a little sad when she sees Melody.
Monty
Monty and Priya’s relationship kind of goes all over the place. After high school, they attend the same university and end up moving in together after a couple years. It’s really amazing for awhile; they cook together in the mornings, and sneak kisses while grocery shopping, and make long trips on the weekends just to get away. But they have very different expectations of the relationship: Priya wants to get married and have a family; Monty isn’t really interested in marriage or children. They clash on this, so it results in a separation. They lose touch with each other for the latter half of their 20s, and don’t reconnect until their mid 30s. Outside of Rosalya, Monty hasn’t been able to maintain a relationship. It’s clear that even years later, she misses Priya, and Priya can’t help but feel the same. At this point, Priya has a wife and children. She and Monty end up picking up where they left off, and Monty spoils Priya’s kids rotten, lmao.
Monty and Rosalya do break up when Monty goes to university. Rosa is scared of the distance, and Monty is afraid that she’s more in love with Rosa than Rosa is with her. It’s a really weird period for them both. They try to keep in touch as friends, but every interaction they have always seemed to be tinged with something else. Just before her graduation, Monty comes back to visit her family, and she and Rosa meet up. It’s very obvious that they still have strong feelings for each other, and they end up back together.
Marco
Alexy is Marco’s high school sweetheart that, despite their relationship eventually ending, Marco will always love. Basically, Alexy becomes that ex-boyfriend that many of Marco’s partners feel uncomfortable around because Marco still has heart eyes. Alexy loves Marco dearly, but their relationship doesn’t work on the romantic level anymore, so they stay friends. Marco goes through a lot of boyfriends because things are weird w/ Alexy, but eventually he finds someone who isn’t bothered or threatened by their close relationship.
4 for your candies! I love them all, btw. Stellar job :)
Thank you so much, Nonny! I’ve worked really hard on them, so it’s always great to hear people enjoy them <3
4. Does your Candy have any tattoos? Would they like any? Of what?
Here’s a separate post w/ pics!
Calemar is terrified of needles, so it takes her forever to build up the courage to get any tattoos. She really wants them though, so eventually Castiel brings her to Lysander’s tattoo artist and she cries her way through her first tattoo: a blue watercolor lightsaber (fucking nerd) on her right inner forearm. She only manages to get one more tattoo before she decides she can’t handle any more: a little solar system in a line down her left inner forearm.
Davie got her first tattoo when she was thirteen (under pretty questionable circumstances, lmao): a compass on her left wrist. At that point in her life she felt as though she had no sense of direction, and plenty of people were telling her she would get nowhere. So the symbol felt like an act of defiance/gave her some hope to help her through her situation. She starts saving up money during high school, and for graduation, Lucia helps her pay for her next tattoo: a big ass octopus that starts at her side and ends on her thigh. Lucia is super skeptical at first, but she can’t deny it’s awesome after it’s finished.
Lu’s first tattoo was at sixteen. Her mother let her get an infinity symbol with the word dance on her right wrist. (”Nothing too big or crazy, mija.”) Lu knows she wants more, though, and dating Lysander only enables her! Eventually she gets a little purple flower behind her ear and a rose sternum tattoo!
Gemma is not about tattoos. She doesn’t mind them on other people, but the idea of putting something permanent on her body gives her way too much anxiety to ever consider it.
Monty finds tattoos super attractive, but it takes her a little while to decide on something she likes. She ends up getting a mountain landscape on her foot (she’s big on rock climbing). She might get another tattoo in the future!
Marco, like his sister, finds tats really attractive. He doesn’t have the biggest pain tolerance, though, so his tattoos are fairly small: an X-Men symbol on his right ankle and a carnival band tattoo on his right arm.

Calemar is a kids’ show junkie, so she’s really into Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra, Steven Universe, Pokemon, and Young Justice.
Lu enjoys competition shows (i.e. America’s Got Talent, America’s Next Top Model), but also has a weakness for supernatural romance/drama stuff like Vampire Diaries and Shadowhunters.
Davie has a lot of shows she used to love and now watches out of obligation rather than genuine enjoyment, some being American Horror Story, the Walking Dead, and Ink Master. However, she’s recently gotten into Preacher and Bates Motel.
Gemma is a big Pretty Little Liars and Grey’s Anatomy fan. She also watches Teen Wolf and Jane the Virgin.
Monty doesn’t watch much TV, but she gets a kick out of Wipeout and American Ninja Warrior.
Marco obsessively watches anything involving superheroes, Arrow/Flash/Teen Titans/X-Men being high on his favorites. He also really enjoys the Office and Parks and Rec.
2. If your Candy were a dessert, what might they be?
Calemar would be a pistachio cream cake with chocolate ganache.
Lu would be tembleque topped with cinnamon and a side of raspberries.
Davie would be a passion fruit margarita pie parfait.
Gemma would be a whipped yogurt shortcake with strawberry, blueberry, and pomegranate.
Monty would be salted almond brittle.
Marco would be a Twix caramel chocolate layer cake.
Davie! Ahi is more inclined to curl up on a nearby armchair with a heated blanket, reading by the sliver of light that razors in through the crack in the blinds. She’d turn off the lights once she noticed Davie was napping, and probably begin snoozing if otherwise unoccupied. Davie would wake up to find her laying facedown on the floor by the foot of the chair, the book nowhere in sight. Davie’s not sure whether to giggle and take a picture or be worried.
makes friends with the neighbors
Davie. Ahi’s likely to whine a little while Davie gets dressed, but she’d probably trail Davie out the door and say hello out of curiosity.
is the adventurous eater
They’re both willing to experiment! They often text one another interesting reviews, or tease the other into agreeing to kiss whatever shred of culinary dignity they might have had left goodbye. It’s been going O.K so far, but Ahi has a california reaper pepper chilli coming up that has some undeniable potential.
hogs the covers at night
Ahi. She overcompensates, and Davie finds herself swimming through duvets and throws, and comforters every night now. We need more comforters, Ahi thinks while counting off the minutes before Davie’s breathing steadies and she is asleep.
forgets to do the dishes
Davie. Ahi once collected a total of 10 reminder stickies off of the dishwasher. They trade chores now.
tries to surprise their partner more often
Davie! Ahi makes an effort, but she’d rather just let Davie know instead of having to wonder whether this is something they’d both be interested in! Davie likes the surprise, the excitement, the bringing together of a reveal. Ahi is sometimes startled but she loves Davie’s animated enthusiasm, it’s mad cute.
leaves dirty laundry on the floor
Dirty laundry gives Ahi a migraine, and clean linens are one of her raisons d’etre. There are neatly marked bins in their laundry room, and a pull out drawer with extra detergent and fabric softener. Davie found it amusing, until Ahi added a 4th bin marked only ‘Davie’ after she left a dirty pair of jeans around. It was a joke, until it wasn’t and Davie started leaving her laundry in it instead of sorting it into the other bins.
stays up til 2 AM reading
Ahi. She’ll turn off the light if she notices Davie is sleeping though. If tomorrow is a lazy day, and Davie wants to cuddle, she’ll throw an arm over whatever it is that Ahi’s reading.
sings in the shower
Davie. Ahi’s too self conscious, and she takes long enough exfoliating as it is. Davie is a fan of long, warm baths and will stay inside until the water turns cold. “You’re going to catch a cold.” “You’re going to catch a colder.”
takes the selfies
Davies takes selfies, Ahi takes more pictures of Davie! Not to be dramatic, not to exaggerate but Davie’s the prettiest, cute candids in bomb lighting are Ahi’s favourite. Documentation is important to her. Davie likes taking pictures of Ahi, her favourites are the ones where she’s got too much food in her mouth, or she’s making a face.
plans date night
They plan together! Davie might remember something she heard about a particular chocolate festival, or new cafe and Ahi loves scrolling through instagram. They enjoy challenging one another, but Ahi loves warm weekends in with wine and a movie, or grocery shopping. Who else can’t wait to grocery shop when they’re financially stable!
