zine to remember Dave Deporis
worked on a hand drawn / written zine to remember a friend, Dave Deporis, who was killed last year during a robbery in Oakland, California. Dave was a beautiful friend, an amazing songwriter, a loving person and someone who was principled, oriented toward peace and justice.Â
I have many meaningful and beautiful memories spending time with Dave in NYC, particularly in the East Village, but also going to a couple demonstrations together, including the mass anti-war protests in winter 2002, during the World Economic Forum (WEF) when it was taking place in NYC post-9/11. Dave was always kind and giving as a friend, I will never forget that. you can find information on effort to remember and release Dave’s music online, also there are some meaningful tributes + remembrances. also I hosted a special broadcast to highlight Dave’s music on CKUT fm in Montreal.
