The Dragon 17 (August, 1978). The cover is by Dave Sutherland and that guy bears an interesting resemblance to Warduke.
Unlike the neutral evil magma mephit of 5e D&D, the magman of 1st ed AD&D is chaotic neutral, playful and mischievous, but not smart enough to realize that playing tag with flammable beings could cause them harm. (Dave Sutherland, AD&D module A4: In the Dungeons of the Slave Lords, TSR, 1981)
It’s a beautiful morning. Let’s go into that lich’s tomb over there. (Dave Sutherland, AD&D module S1: Tomb of Horrors by Gary Gygax, TSR, 1978)

Merfolk will venture out of water to sun themselves or visit coastal spots (Dave Sutherland, AD&D Monster Manual, TSR, 1977)
Space Marines, the game of tactical ground combat between humans and aliens in the 22nd century, by A. Mark Ratner, cover by Dave Sutherland, FanTac Games, 1977. This first edition includes cross-over rules for D&D and Metamorphosis Alpha, because why not. FGU printed a 1980 edition, and the background and alien races inspired the setting for the Space Opera RPG. There has been hardly any confusion about the name “Space Marines” since then.
King Snurre Iron Belly, ruler of the fire giants, wears a cloak of white dragon hide that protects him from cold-based attacks. King Snurre recently came out of retirement to appear on the cover of the 5th edition D&D Player's Handbook. (David Sutherland from AD&D module G3: Hall of the Fire Giant King by Gary Gygax, TSR, 1978.)
