Holy shit, that’s a lot of ships! And out of the three, I only like Darylcarol so… dammit, this is gonna be hard.

Tophaang-

Silver Bells- V6. Yo, ATLA may be American anime, but it’s still anime to me, and that means: JPop. This osng is actually about Christmas, so just like… disregard that. It’s got a strong hip hop flavor to it (Japanese rap, son, yeeeah) and I think that big attitude, combined with the back and forth rapping between the different group members, reminds me of Toph and Aang and how they’re both kind of Pessimism vs. Optimism, in a way, but yet still work. I guess? XD

Be My Escape- Relient K. What? I still like this song, ok. And the alternative style really fits Toph, I think, so this, to me, would be a song from Toph’s point of view.

I’ve been housing all this doubt, and insecurity, and I’ve been locked inside that house, all the while you hold the key. And I’ve been dying to get out, and it might be the death of me.

And even though there’s no way of knowing where to go, I promise I’m going…

We still don’t even know who Toph’s baby daddy is right? So this, to me, could be Toph keeping it all inside, eh? Never talking to Aang about her feelings. (I don’t ship this I don’t know wha haha).

Darylcarol-

Crazy- Seal. Yay, angsty apocalypse themed music! I happen to like Seal (sue me), and I think this song kinda fits these two and the idea of adapting to the bullshit life that is the zombie apocalypse.

All the people walking through my head, one of them’s got a gun to shoot the other one. And yet together, they were friends at school.

To me, it addresses the pain of having to acknowledge all things horrible in the world. Daryl thought he lost Merle, and Carol lost Sophia. They have to reassure each other with their strength and try and muddle through the new fucked up world out there, fight crazy with crazy.

The Sharpest Lives- My Chemical Romance. The dark, gritty sound of this song sets the scene for me. It’s all about misery, really, and forgiveness when everything’s gone to shit, which is something I think is a key theme to Daryl and Carol’s relationship.

This alone, you’re in time for the show: you’re the one that I need, I’m the one that you loathe. You can watch me corrode like a beast in repose, cuz I love all the poison, away with the boys in the band.

I’ve really been on a bender and it shows, so why don’t you blow me a kiss before she goes?

Give me a shot to remember, so you can take all the pain away from me, one kiss and I will surrender: the sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead.

They lead their lives in this wasteland, with very little hope to cling to but each other. So I thought this song would be a fitting analogy for the ways they keep each other strong, no matter how bleak it gets.

Hannigail-

Dr. Mabuse- Propaganda. This 80’s song of awesomeness is a fave rock song of mine. While I’m sure Hannibal would rather brain himself with a rock than listen to it for more than a minute, I feel this is the kind of nutso shit that could be flowing around in Abigail’s sad, twisted little brain. It starts with the sound of a falling can lid or something, echoing on forever. What kind of sounds echo in Abigail’s mind- that man’s screams, perhaps? I feel like this song is part description of Hannibal, part mantra in Abigails mind, something to help her decide which path to take:
