#darn mobile

Rachel, Keith and Captain Fishhook move swiftly through the 12th floor, looking carefully to make sure no one else is around. Sound would have been a problem, since Keith had hooves, but he had taped bits of cloth onto them.

Captain Fishhook held his fin in front of the other two and they skid to a halt. The ghost shark enters the large door leading to the “beach” room and Rachel and Keith patiently wait.

“I don’t think we should be helping you hide,” Rachel said with a shaky voice. “What happens If they infect us? We’ll know where you are and we’ll surely come to kill you!”

Keith shook his head. “I’d rather survive as long as I can with a possible risk of you killing me than me attempting to hide on my own,” he remembered the time he tried to steal rubber ducks from the boilerworks. He was caught by Hakuchō and attempted to hide, which failed miserably and he was found in seconds. “Besides, Rachel, I don’t think you two can get infected. I have my faith in you!”

A brief moment of silence passed. “I hope Sidney’s ok,” said the ghost. “She went missing a few hours ago.”

Captain Fishhook stuck his head into the room. “The coast is clear, no pun intended,” he slowly opened the doors. “But keep it down, will ya?”

The beach seemed much more eerie and quite than usual, with no one around... or maybe it was the anxiety and fear that made the mood of the room change.

Rachel dropped her voice to a whisper. “Keith, don’t move any further. You’re going to leave foot- er uh... hoove-prints in the sand. Fishhook, help me lift him.”

Keith glanced behind him as he was carried into the air. And sure enough, there was tracks. The three moved closer to the shoreline, investigating for possible hiding spots. After several minutes, Keith knew what he was going to do. “Drop me in a barrel. I have an idea.”

Rachel and Captain Fishhook did so accordingly. Rachel went back to the previous room to get food and Fishhook just let out a doubtful sigh. “You’re in the most obvious hiding spot. If those lethal ghosts are looking for targets, inside the barrels are the first place they’ll look.” Rachel handed Keith a small loaf of bread, surprised that the horse/shark even fit in the barrel.

“I won’t be poorly hidden if I’m in the sand!” Keith replied optimistically. “I can always get back out when this is all over.”

Captain Fishhook shook his head. “Keith, no. This is stupid. You’re asking to get buried alive!”

“Not all the way,” Keith gestured to a small hole in the barrel. “Only cover the barrel in sand up to here and I’ll still be able to breathe or escape if I need to.”

The two ghosts glanced at each other. Neither Rachel or Fishhook had anything to argue against.

After digging a hole in the sand, Captain Fishhook and Rachel moved the barrel into it, with the lid on, and covered any tracks made in the sand.

“Keith?” Rachel called into the barrel. “Can you still here me?”

A faint “yeah!” was heard. “I’m good in here! You two better hide as well!”

Keith couldn’t see it, but Captain Fishhook nodded. “Good luck to you, pal!”

“Stay safe...” Rachel said sadly. Keith knew what she was feeling. To her, it was as if she was loosing another friend. That’s not going to happen, Keith thought determinedly. I’ll be safe and sound.

Knox bowed deeply then stood before her. “Yes, Your Grace.” he replied plainly. “I have been commanded to become one of your personal guards, reporting to you and the Captain of the Guard.” Unsheathing his blade, he knelt before her, hands on the finely crafted but plain hilt. “My will is your will. My sword is yours for as long as you wish it.”
