She immediately flared her nostril at the other, trying to figure out exactly what she was trying to say. Was she going to say something about the princes? About the late king? 

She betrayed Callum, the one human thing Rayla seemed to care most about. She wanted Claudia to feel the same pain Callum felt. 

not much happened in his town that he DIDN’T know about. most citizens kept their mouths SHUT, though there were some who SHARED information they heard. it was THAT reason he ended up in front of the other, weapon behind his back. he didn’t WANT to cause a scene, nor did he want to pull that trigger. he only wanted to have a SIMPLE conversation ; a way to SET rules into place. he didn’t NEED anything happen to those he CARED about, nor did he need more law enforcement running through his town. it was bad enough that he had to WORRY about the local sheriff trying to shut him down.

    One look of his behalf at his grown up daughter; the one and only he had; the one he had raised as a mage herself and teached the crafts of dark magic; the one he thought he could read like a book - where enough to tell him that he had asked for too much. Not only the mission he had given her the last time they had spoken, but this whole idea of his - rising his kids to be useful - now seemed to fall apart in front of his eyes.He had lost their trust, especially Claudia’s how it seemed in the first few moments of hesitation. 

    And while he waited for her response, Viren couldn’t ignore the change she had gone through elsewise. The silver strand of hair were just too obtrusive to not catch his attention. Powerful magic, similar to those he decided to use, must have caused her cell disintegration and gave her father to reconsider his actions. Claudia always had been his unspoken, but clearly shown favourite. Seeing her coming after him always had filled him with pride, until this very moment. 

    She easily could become the one being at his place; could become a great mage that serves the kingdom, or get’s tied down for doing what she thinks is the right thing to do, even though there were no doubt that Claudia were better at pleasing people and would fit in better than he ever had. 

       He was conflicted between being proud and disappointed. 

    The later grew stronger as his only hope of freedom declined it him. “Claudia!”, the prisoner’s voice rose with strictness, as if admonishing a misbehaving child; as if he had snapped out of his thoughts 

    “Don’t consider your own consequences but the one for this kingdom! Don’t trust these fools, who are waiting for the princes return! You can’t really believe Ezran, or even Callum would be able to make reasonable decisions in this dire situation.”
