omg girl please share your opinion on guts with the class
First off. Holy shit protect teenage girls. Olivia Rodrigo was "cute overdramatic teen pop" in my head for so long that I was pretty weirded out when she started showing up in more aged-up looks, but I get it now. I am so sad for her. Idk how the album is being received bc I'm totally outside the music industry fandom circles, but I sure hope people are talking about how society has conditioned kids to act sexy and perform adulthood like an act and how we should put an end to it. Don't worry Olivia being in your mid twenties will heal you
Specific song thoughts. Vampire is still the best song on the album it is So Damn Good UGGGHH. My toxic trait is that I think lacy is about Olivia's perception of society's gaze placed upon her and not about a whole other woman. Ballad of a homeschooled girl hits way too close to home considering I was never homeschooled and I'm a grown ass woman. Logical made me cry a little bit because it's an echo of every bad relationship I've ever heard about. I expected teenage dream to be an upbeat reference to brutal with a new perception on the theme, so the actual content of it made me cry again. God. Protect teenage girls x1000.
All in all. As always, great to hear some 2000s vibes in modern pop, by which I mean actually fun melodies and production that doesn't sound like every other song on the charts.
