THE MEYEROWITZ STORIES (2017) Grade: B-
Had some funny scenes & I like Stiller & Affleck chemistry as brothers. Decent Melodrama / Dramedy.
Thanks to Alice Kremelberg for sharing these photos of the cast and director on the set of The Trial of the Chicago 7.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020) is a courtroom drama that fudges some historical details in a case about protest and race.
There's a tension in this film between the defendants winning their case and earning their personal freedom, versus making a political statement to end the Vietnam War. There's also friction between those who want to work within the system and those who aim to change the culture, the minds of the people.
This film is nominated for Best Picture because it includes a lot of footage of police beating up protestors and it reminds people of the actions last summer protesting police violence against Black people. It's kind of triggering, and it made me really sad. I learned a bit about the actual historical case, but then I had to read about it afterwards because the film takes some serious liberties.
I don't think this film was for me, but I can imagine some people finding it meaningful. I wish Eddie Redmayne would just stop.

This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
The Trial of the Chicago 7 has a few scenes with emergency vehicle lights in broad daylight. One scene, without warning, has quick flashes of light while imagery is shown against people sleeping.
Most of this film uses stationary or smooth camera work, but a few scenes use shaking, handheld cameras. Some scenes are interwoven with actual footage of the events depicted, and while these shots are short, they are usually shaky.
Flashing Lights: 4/10. Motion Sickness: 3/10.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: This film features frequent violence by police officers against both peaceful protestors and rioters. In one scene, a woman is sexually assaulted, rescued almost immediately, and her rescuer is arrested for being in the area while trying to help her.
