Truth be told, Dan, too, had not expected his day to turn out as it had.
The start left him admittedly a bit disoriented - causing in turn the unfortunate fate of the stranger’s bag, knocked down into a sizable gully - though, luckily, he’d soon managed to adjust to the change in scenery.
Perhaps it was understandable. Time was a fleeting, mysterious friend to the unchanging darkness of his previous abode, leaving little sense of the world outside and the centuries since he’d last touched upon it. It was all...different.
Naturally, he was intrigued.
The voice of his newfound companion brought the spirit’s attention downward, gaze resting upon the face of the shorter being beside him. She was a summoner, that much was obvious; even had she not summoned him herself. Different as she was to his previous callers, such a presence remained familiar to him.
At present, it was about the only thing he could claim to be so recognizable.
“I don’t possess such an ability,” the spirit explained, unperturbed. While former summoners had made use of such spells, he had never been the source of that power. His expertise sat solely - as she’d observed - in the realm of the physical. Making use of a map was about all he could do in terms of finding a town.
That being said, when it came to the matter of her second query...
The man glanced over the edge of the ravine.
“But I can get your bag, yes.”
Without further comment, the long-browed being proceeded to calmly step off the cliff’s edge, down into the chasm.
